Has Anyone Gotten Those Dream Where its dark at night and your outside, you get a weird feeling someone is going to come or is around the corner waiting to get you and eventually it happens and you get kidnapped or grabbed and wake up. I used to get these when i was small I would be outside my house at night, i would try to go inside but it was hard to move and eventually someone would come and grab me or it used to be something right when i started to run inside the kidnapper would summon behind me and grab me

I used to have a big thing about pedophiles and kidnappers what I was a kid. Like, I'd go to the fridge, open the door, get a drink, and then I didn't want to close the door, because I'd feel like the guy would be there. and he would. I'd wake up terrified. I'm thirteen now, and I don't really get nightmares anymore.

I often have dreams where I am trying to escape something dark and/or unknown. I have had these kinds of dreams my whole life. I do not know what they mean.

Brain science has discovered that part of the purpose of dreams is to run "diagnostic checks" on our systems - testing the fight-or-flight response in the neural network as it were. Making sure the right glands release the right hormones on cue. And especially since in the modern world we don't use these systems much in waking life, they need to be tested and prepped frequently in dreams. Think of it as a little tune-up. And some people have nightmares due to some trauma that the mind is trying to process.

I can't remember anyone ever catching me, but I hate the fear-ridden dreams where I'm trying to run away from something but just keep on going slower and slower. I've also had several experiences a couple years back where I couldn't look beyond a certain point - for instance, I would desperately need to look to my left for some reason but it was like my neck couldn't turn to it no matter how much I try to force it. I remember it being very disturbing, and possibly have to do with breaking up with a long-time girlfriend.

Sort of reminds me of various dreams I had when I was little. During my childhood, I believe I've been assaulted by a guy with half his face torn off, invisible footsteps from behind me, a gargoyle in a massive, empty stone castle, and even a homicidal shopping cart at a grocery store.
