How often do you do a reality check?

I've been told that you're suppose to do as much as it is right for you. But what I have a gripe with is that when I'm doing a reality check I KNOW i'm awake and so I can't fake myself into uncertainty. Is this a problem for some and if so how do I change it? Plus the clock rc isn't the best one.

You should do a reality check about once an hour. Don't make it a habbit that you completely ignore what you are doing. You have you be aware your testing reality. I like to write "RC" on my hand and whenever I see it, I do a reality check.

I don't think you really need to believe you are dreaming. If you are doing the nose pinch reality check, then believe you will be able to breath through your nose even though it is pinched, not that you're dreaming. If you can breath through it...well...you are dreaming!

I recommend trying the nose pinch one.

I recommend you read more about reality checks here.

I do it whenever I remember to do it so thats like usually once every 20 minutes or so. I also do it when I see something wierd or surreal looking/anything dreamlike. I never become lucid in dreams from doing a RC tho, I always seem to become lucid either spontaneously or by WILD, and I perform the RC after to stabilize.

Well, I don't know. Maybe 1 every hour. Sometimes, when I'm thinking alot about it, I'm checking much more, and sometimes I forget it. And, oh yeah, the nose pinch is brilliant.

another thing important about RC's, is to do them with the full expectation that you will be able to do whatever you try eg. nose pinching, believe that it is possible to breathe while nose is pinched and that you will do it, even if you are actually awake and it doesn't work. Why this is important is because if you mindlessly do reality checks and start accepting them as things you can't do in reality, when you are dreaming they may not work or lose effectivness which has happened to me and it is quite annoying, so always perform RC with the expectation that it will work even if you are certain you are awake
