Would this be a good idea?

Hey, so after reading through a whoooole bunch of my dreams in my dream journal, I figured out that my brother is in 75-80 percent of my dreams.

So would it make sense to do a reality check during waking life whenever I see him and maybe that will carry over to my dreams? Would this help boost lucidity? Most of all, would this even work?

      Thanks

You can definitely RC whenever you see your brother, but don't just do RCs when you're around him; try to make the checks as random as possible throughout the day. It's important to question if you could be dreaming in many different scenarios, not just when you see a cue; this is because it generalizes the awareness that will eventually cause lucidity in your dreams. Be sure that you don't just casually do a nose-pinch (probably the most successful one out there) and then shrug the fact that you might be asleep off; instead, stop what you're doing and try to be as skeptical as possible. Put some thought into it, and don't make it a habit or something you just "have to get done". Really try to feel why you have to test if you're dreaming.

Reason out why you're not dreaming, or what things could look like if you were. For instance, "I'm not dreaming because I can't breathe through my nose when I plug it, and the street signs outside all look normal, but if I were dreaming, I might not be able to read the signs and I could breathe through my nose with no difficulty".
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Great advice from Puffin. Using your brother as a dream sign is a good idea aswell. "Whenever I see my brother, I will check if I'm dreaming" could be used as a mantra, that you also chant during the day. Make it a habit and it might carry over into the dream.
