      A few questions

      Hello,
I've had a collection of questions and I thought it was probably best, seen as they are all fairly small questions, that I put them all in one thread.

1: Is forgetting the world necessary?
Is it necessary to forget the world around you in order to go into an LD? Likewise will remembering the world bring you out of the dream?

2: Do eyes count for SP?
I've heard a lot about how swallowing counts for going into Sleep Paralysis and I was wondering, do eye movements count, i.e. will they stop Sleep Paralysis?

3: What happens if you focus on your body in a dream?
Can you feel the outside world/ your actual body in the dream? Or just the dream body?

      4: How to escape SP?
I've heard that Sleep Paralysis is actual paralysis and I've experienced it once or twice myself and I was wondering, how does one get out of it?

1: Is forgetting the world necessary?
It's best to forget about the "outside" world and focus your attention on the dream world. Usually thinking about your body laying in bed or any externa, reality has a tendency to make you wake up.

2: Do eyes count for SP?
Well, SP occurs during REM sleep, and REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement, because the eyes are flicking around really fast the entire time. So you can still move your eyes while the rest of your body is paralyzed.

3: What happens if you focus on your body in a dream?
Sometimes you do become aware of your sleeping body when you're in a dream, and its usually just before you wake up. Best to concentrate on the dream itself.

      4: How to escape SP?
This one I don't really know. I leave it to others to answer it, plus I'm sure some people can give better/more complete answers to what I've answered. (Or even just tell me I'm totally wrong )

To escape sleep paralysis all you have to do is to change your breathing pattern to an irregular one.

To get out of SP wiggle ur fingers and toes, the other questions are hard.

      1) The fact is u do forget the world, you are so taken up in ur inner consciousness, I can imagine training yourself to hang on to that information.

      2) Eye movement will take u out of SP/not allow u to get into it.

      3) If u focus on ur real body in a dream u will wake up, again with training u could do it to small degrees.

      Hi Duo,

1: Is forgetting the world necessary?
Yes; the goal of SP is to relax completely, to the point where you're almost completely unaware of your physical body. If you focus too much on it, your mind could think you're still awake.

2: Do eyes count for SP?
You can swallow and move your eyes, but just let them move by themselves; don't purposefully look anywhere or do anything voluntary. If you relax enough, you probably won't even notice your eyes moving and they might relax on their own, but if they're moving don't worry about it. Worrying about eye movements will only harm the WILD attempt because it gets you nervous and worked up. You have to be very calm and relaxed.

3: What happens if you focus on your body in a dream?
If you focus on your dream body, you'll feel your dream body. If you happen to make the mistake of thinking of your physical body lying in bed, you might end up destabilizing the dream, or worse - waking up or entering a false awakening, so don't do this! After a successful WILD, it's important to touch objects and rub your dream hands together to rid yourself of any residual feelings that may have been brought over into the dream from your physical body.

      4: How to escape SP?
If you're paralyzed, it probably won't do much good to try moving (you can try imagining your body moving and really feel the tactile sensations like gravity, etc, but it's never worked for me). Instead change your breathing pattern. When you become relaxed, you'll adopt a constant shallow breathing pattern, and this is one of the signs that your mind uses to tell if you're asleep. If you make your breathing deeper or irregular, it can break you out of the SP.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Moving your eyes COULD affect it, if that's what you mean. It could also do nothing to hinder you.
