      Stablization Fustration

My last couple LDs were very short. They only last a couple seconds after my reality check, all though my longest LD was probably only around 30 sec or so.

Im trying to stabilize right after i become lucid. Its like as soon as i become lucid the dream starts fading right as im trying to stabilize.

The first time i woke up while my arms actually moved to rub my hands together. i tried to drift back into the dream again but realized i couldn't fall asleep with my arms still pointing in the air...so i put then down and wasn't able to get back into the dream

Just last night I got a MILD to work for the first time, for whatever reason while i was going to bed i knew it would work, my mind was just so focused on it. When the dream came i knew i was dreaming right away i remember it all very clearly, i did do a RC to reassure but i already knew, the dream faded right after, i tried to rub my hands on the bedsheet in the dream to stabilize and no luck.

Also, my last could LDs were in the first and second REM cycle so i know they dont last as long but i figured more than 3 seconds..

I havent tried spinning usually because im not standing, and the dream is fading before i get to

      Thanks for any advice

Just try to quickly, but calmy stabalize.
Also, you've only had four lucids, so just give it some time, yeh?
They'll get better as you get more experienced, just keep doing what you're doing and stay calm

Yeah, the first few REM periods are very short, about 5 minutes.
Because it is so early on in the night, this could be a reason for lack of control, have you tried WBTB to focus on a later period.
Teach yourself, when you go into the dream, don't be excited, just use your senses to get a feel of the dream, and it will become stable.

      Happy Dreams

I had this exact problem just last night. I guess I became lucid in an early REM period (I DO remember quite a lot of non-lucid dreams after it). I had become lucid due to someone looking different than they do in real life. I did a reality check to make sure and sure enough I was dreaming. I started to stabilize but it was already too late. I was looking around and trying to visualize the environment. All was good until I looked down and saw my feet and body in what I guess was a sorry attempt at a false awakening. I saw my feet in what looked like my bed but they slowly faded away until I reached out with them and touched the wall. That managed to get me a whopping extra 10 seconds to materialize socks since my feet cold.

All in all, just keep practicing and don't let nights like that get you down. It happens. I've had many amazing lucid dreams in the past but I'm starting to get back into it myself after a short hiatus. It's just part of the process.

I have had 14 lucid dreams and they have all ended in a few seconds.
I stay calm and stabilize and I still wake up everytime.

Just wanted to come back and mention i had great success last night with stabilizing. I was able to keep my dream going long enough for me to talk out of my house, run and jump into the air and take off in flight....slowly for some reason lol but none the less, it lasted way longer than usual.

I did wake a couple seconds into flight probably from the crazy exciting feeling it gave me.

Tryed WBTB this morning too but it didnt work for me, Im gonna look into a couple WBTB techniques to find something that might work better

Even though ive only had a few LDs the last 3 ive had basically came at will, im gaining alot of confidence and i got you people and this site to thank for it.

      Thank you DreamViews

edit: i also used some good techniques in older post, one that told me to calm down right away when i become lucid and just look around and take it all in, worked wonders

Congratulations! The first few seconds of the dream seem to be critical. Once you get involved and immersed in the dream and forget about your body back in bed, you don't really have to think about it anymore.
