      Inception Lucid Dream's reality checks.

Hi all. Just watched inception for the second time as it's amazing and get's me in the mood to have my first LD .

I was wondering.. one of the characters has a red dice.. he uses it as a reality check to see if he's dreaming right?

In what way does he use it to check?

That's if my assumption is correct thanks!

Yeah, he does. It's probably like if the dots count up to more than 6 or if it's a blank die.

In the movie, its a loaded di. Only he knows the weight, so he can always chcek if he's in reality or not. I doubt this would really work, as weight is not always consistant in LDs...

It seems to me that the objects were used not so much to test reality as to make sure that you weren't in a dream tailored by someone else. That's why no one else should see your object of choice, so you know that if it works the way it's supposed to that nobody is messing with your head. If the dice is loaded, only you know what side will come up each time. An extractor wouldn't.

For Cobb it was more to test reality. If he was dreaming his wife's top would spin forever and it he wasn't it would topple over after a few seconds. Here is how i see it, if you believe having this item will give you lucidity then it should do just that. Mind over matter type of deal, It would also have to be habit formed otherwise how will you remember to do it in a dream?

Exactly right. I was going to explain all this, but you beat me to it. Thank you!
