Oh no sorry, TILD is already taken by me, sorry.
But in all seriousness, sounds like your friend is good with LDing in general <.<
Also, changing patterns in sleep will make the mind more aware so its logical that he would get lucid after first try, since it was a "new" thing for the dreaming person.

Placebo, chance, higher awareness due to thirst. I'm assuming he just stopped drinking for a day, which probably doesn't take into account liquids absorbed from foods. Doesn't sound too healthy or promising, i've tried similiar "techniques", though when it comes down to it, the only ones that really work are the ones you believe in.

Though if his friend stopped drinking for no reason and had a suprise bloom in lucids, then who knows, interested to see op's results either way.

Yeh and this. Let us know if your friend tried it again since.

I am pretty sure it is where you refuse to drink for awhile and go to bed thirsty. You imagine drinking and doing RCs as you fall asleep. Then, when you are in a dream, you are likely to try and drink something and RC. It is kind of like having to piss. However, it sounds like a torturous way to try and LD....especially having to visualize drinking water. Good luck. Im excited to see if it works immediately for you too.
