      Improving Creativity of Dreams

      As my recall improves thanks to my dream journal and regular practice, I've been thinking about the actual content of my dreams. Although, like most people, my dreams tend to be abnormal in various ways, they never seem to venture further than the realistic. I tend to get dreams, for example, in which I'm among people I see most often during the day, doing things I've done recently or have thought about doing.

      What I'd like is to have some more creative/imaginative/abstract-type dreams, which would make them both more interesting and more distinguishable from real life.

      So I was wondering how many of you out there have more abstract dreams (e.g. distorted colours schemes or dimensions)? And if anyone had any suggestions on ways to go about making my dreams more 'fucked up', shall we say.

      I watch a lot of Adventure Time and similar shows, and I'm probably David Firths biggest fan (fat-pie.com) - which I would have thought would make a difference.

      Cheers

      One way you can be transport to a bizarre location (or any location) is dream spinning. Also, try taking drugs in a dream. While I haven't taken any drugs in my waking life or in the dream state, i have heard from others on the forum that the sensations are almost the same.

      I have been thinking about the same thing for a long time. Although alot of my nonlucids are interesting(like last night i flew fight ships in an interplanitary war) most of them are sort of noninteresting. One way of getting more out there dreams is to think and do interesting stuff more. Watching Adventure Time alot would probably help lol. Also i hear some drugs like the suplaments some people take to get more lucids can make your dreams more abstract and crazy. I havnt taken any suplaments for dreams before but i think i might try it over the summer and maby get some crazy dreams

      Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm unfortunately yet to have an intentionally lucid dream - so I can't really control what I do in my dreams yet. Once I do though, I'll definitely give it a go

      Are these supplements 'natural' or man-made? As well as being fairly skeptical about those sorts of things, I live in England - so it'd probably be pretty expensive!

      It's simple: auto-suggestion.

      One habit that I want to start for ages is to spread lucid dreaming encouragements all over my room. Pictures of lucid dreaming art; get movie scenes (like matrix) and watch those during my WBTBs. Also, reading fantasy books like LOTR and eragon (eragon is epic cause it gives you tips about dream control I tell you!). If you fill your brain with this kind of stuff, you'll:

      - feel inspired to have your lucid dream and to take your own adventures;
      - stick this "fantasy" world into your memory and go to bed with a more fresh imagination (especially if you watch/read these "heroic" scenes during WBTBs!)

      Good luck

      Some nice suggestions. I think in general I'll encourage my mind to wander, and maybe day-dream if I can, about these sorts of things. I'm sure just talking about it now is making me think about it and should have, if nothing else, I minor influence.

      Thanks

      [EDIT] I've just realised I've posted this in the wrong sub-forum, I meant to post it in the General Dream Discussion sub-forum. Sorry!
