      some more questions

      ive known about lucid dreams for about 2 months and i had 4 lucids .. first about 30 sec , 2nd 20 sec , 3rd 40 sec and 4th 5 sec xD
      so is it normal for the first lucids to be this short ?? and are 4 good for the first 2 months , having in mind that i dont try hard enough ??

      ok heres another couple of questions .. i started journaling 3 days ago and want to work for the next few months on WILD , MILD and ADA together , i read a few articles about each and wanna make sure i get the basics of each
      WILD : simply staying conscious and letting your body sleep to have an LD
      MILD : daydream about a certain dream plan you want to do , and say some mantras
      ADA : become aware of everything around you that you see or hear to increase dream awareness in hope to get a DILD
      did i get them right ???

      hi fellow egyptian,i am algerian,you got them right,and for the number of lucids,don't worry,you will have more frequent lucid dreams if you are dedicated ,may i ask?what techs do you use?

      How long a person's lucid dream depends on how much they prepared in not being too excited about it. I remember my first lucid dream was pretty short, because I tried to do too many things at once that would elevate the excitement for me, which is why they were short.

      It's perfectly normal for your lucids to be short, the feeling of knowing you're dreaming opens up more intense emotions, and because of the fact that your imagination is your only limitation.

      So you feel obliged to get started RIGHT away in your lucids, but it's best to try and stabilize first before doing things within your lucid dreams. Other factors such as the length of your REM cycles may have played a role in how long you had a lucid dream.

      Sometimes you can go into a dream during NON-REM, but those are way shorter compared to the REM cycles that come on in later hours of sleep (and the closer the REM cycles are from initiating again, the longer your dreams, and the more intense the experiences they are.)

      I would try to focus on one technique, because trying to do all of those will cause stress on not only your mind, but also your motivation. The ADA however, you can add that with any technique your using.

      If you want to do a WILD, you have to know that you're setting yourself up for more intention and devotion in accomplishing it.

      If you don't want to go too hard on yourself, you can resort to the MILD+ADA. The only thing you have to do, like WILDing, is have intent, but it involves a little less intent to dream compared to a WILD.

      WILD : simply staying conscious and letting your body sleep to have an LD
      That's about right. And it's also about not focusing too much on your body, because you can stay conscious all you want, but if you keep thinking about your physical body, or look forward to hallucinations/sp/etc., you'll most likely fail because you're body will still think you're awake.

      They key point with WILDs is to have a medium (it can range from counting down from 100 and repeating if you still didn't experience any changes, and all sorts of dream anchors) that pushes you to the right path of slight awareness/being conscious as you gradually go to sleep.

      I would go more into detail about it, but I think that should be a good starting point for you.


      MILD : daydream about a certain dream plan you want to do , and say some mantras
      I would say the MILD by default is just focusing on mantras and sayings that have intent in them for you to have a lucid dream.

      The daydreaming aspect is more along the lines of visualization. But don't get me wrong, visualization + MILD is really effective because you're adding to the intent of wanting to experience a dream plan, but MILDs alone are just based on mantras or mnemonics.

      ADA : become aware of everything around you that you see or hear to increase dream awareness in hope to get a DILD

      That's about right as well. But be careful with trying to be cognizant of everything, not saying that you shouldn't do it, but do know that this requires MORE intention to know the differences between waking life and lucid dreaming.

      You can still manage a successful DILD if you focus for a few minutes for a few times a day (like 2-4 minutes of paying attention to your surroundings, your actions, the gravity, etc. for 3-4 times).

      And if you read articles on it, I'm not sure if you meant here or on other links, but if you read this one (I don't know if you read it), it's pretty useful.

      Puffin makes a detailed and comprehensive guide on having small bursts of of being aware at certain times of the day, and focusing deeply on them, and the habits of doing so will hopefully carry on in the dream state.
