      dream journal: privacy

So I finally decided I want to start keeping a dream journal but was wondering how you people cope with privacy issues.

I have sex in a lot of my lucid dreams (why wouldn't you when you can have it with whoever you want) and I wouldn't really want anyone to read about my sexual fantasies in detail.

I could write my dreams on the computer, but I'd risk forgetting too many details, so I'd rather keep a paper version next to my bed.

So how do you people with parents, kids, husbands, wifes, ... handle this issue of keeping private information away from others?

Number one: Don't show it to them.

      Number two: Hide it.

      Number three: Profit!

Well I don't care too much about people on this website seeing what I dream about. I really wouldn't like the idea of a family member seeing my dream journal though. So I have a few rules for myself about dream journal privacy.

Rule 1. I don't let any friends or family know I keep a dream journal.
Rule 2. I keep certain things like sex written with minimal detail.
Rule 3. After uploading the entry onto dreamviews, throw away all of the notes.

I wouldn't upload anything you don't want google to find. With the paper/word document file at home, leave out the incriminating words, I would say. If you have lots of context around it, you will probably not forget and no one else will know for sure.

Isn't the whole point of a dream journal to write down those details to become better at dream recall?

I agree with the minimal detail. I can not speak for any one else, but I imagine most of us would smile at you hinting about something, but would be very uninterested in hearing the details. An example of how I deal with the issue is something like this. Example. I landed by the dock and looked into the water, the imagery of tropical fish was intense, then i saw a mermaid! She asked me " >Private content" and I dove right in! Of course I did, I am male. She swam up to me and,,,, Blush,,, after that we went fo a swim.
It gives the idea to the reader but does not make me a porno writer, which I imagine everyone apprishiates. As far as developing better recall, I do not need to document a move by move story, because if I am likely to recall anything vividly it would be that kind of thing.
