      effects of smoking on dreams

Hi, I tried to have a look around for some rules but couldn't find any so please forgive me if I am breaking any posting this.

I am a pretty regular weed smoker for about 4 years now and have really started to notice how poor my dream recall is, I used to have lucid dreams and remember 3-5 dreams a night but I'm thinking its mainly the weed?
Does anyone else have this or know if smoking affects your dreams?

again sorry if this breaks rules feel free to delete!

      Zac

Weed totally destroys your recall, for everyone I've ever met. You can often get by smoking early in the day and still get vivid dreams, especially with WBTB, but anything afternoon or evening kills it for me. So that's probably what it is.

A question like this is very reasonable, and does not break the rules. It breaks the rules to support drug use or give details on how to use or obtain them. At least, that's how I understand it. In a recent thread on things that negatively impact LDing, at least 3 people expressed that pot (or Spice) ruined there dream recall. When i was younger i would experiment back and forth between sober and smoking. I feel smoking canibinoids completely handicaps the lucid dreamer. It screws recall, makes WILDs very unlikely, and when you do get lucid you are confused and unlikely to stay lucid for long.

thanks guys, I thought as much but just wanted some confirmation. Looks like
I'm going to have to cut it out completely, to be fair about two weeks ago I didn't smoke for a day and that night I had a separation experience id say more closely linked to an OBE.

      Nice forum btw

You'll find especially if you regularly smoke weed that it will kill your recall. I know people who smoke occasionally and they still manage to recall dreams but they say not to the vividness or clarity as they normally would if they had not smoked. Around the forum, this is pretty well known and you can probably find a thread with some proper research and such in it with a bit of a search around. Generally you're probably better off in all aspects of dreaming without it

Yeah it totally buggers it up, but as soon as you stop you should get a nice boost while your brain catches up on lost REM sleep.

I am a weekend smoker and on weekends I dont have much of a dream recall...lol SOMETIMES I will have some crazy dreams if I take a weed nap..but most the time weed has a terrible impact on dreams as does alcohol.

When I smoke and go to sleep, I feel my consciousness opening up while laying there waiting for SP and the hypnagogic imagery looks pretty sweet. Depending on how and when I wake up (whenever that should be) I can recall a lot.

There are days that I don't remember anything at all about my dreams, and then throughout the day I'll see things which were either in the dream or which reminds me of something in a certain dream, and then I begin recalling some of the dream.
