Smile Should i get back to writing a dream journal?

So basically i run a dream journal for like 2 weeks when i started practising lucid dreaming... this was 2 years ago. I never ever written down non-lucid dreams since then.

I remember around 5-6 dreams a day, because i wake up a lot during the night...
Althrough nowadays i forget most of these dreams easily during the day... Before, i could remember them for longer periods...

Right now i'm wondering whether should i start writing a dream journal again or not... I would probably do it in in my exercise book that i used as a journal before, OR try out telling the dreams and recording them on my phone... Not sure what to do

      Opinions?

Yeah, I think you should. Dream journals tend to really help people out with recalling their dreams and actually help with lucid dreaming. If you keep a journal you can recognize more dream signs to help you become lucid more often. Plus, I think it is fun to keep a journal and read back on all of your dreams.

As for how you should keep it, just do whatever is easiest to you. Record it on a phone, type it up, or write it. Even if you just right down little things about the dream, it is better than nothing.

I agree with Mancon. I think you should definitely keep a dream journal. Keeping a dream journal will help you organize your dreams more effectively, derive connections between dreams, and further your understanding of the dreams that you have.

Even if you have many dreams a night, you can always just write down the dream you liked the most.

You definitely should, if it is too much of a chore just run through them in your mind when you get up in the morning, which is what I usually do.
But I'd say it's extremely important to do either, well it is for me, my recall literally dies after a week without one or the other (:

I find it really helpful to remember dreams easier by reading old entries ive made. I usually get some sort of lucid a few days after, without really trying.

I think so, I think there are deeper advantages then most people suggest. I think people assume that it's just a small aid, because people say all it really does is help recognize dream signs and actually remember lucids if you had them (personally I think lucids are quite simple to remember most of the time, and I can't remember the last time I became lucid from a dream sign). I think what it does is bring your conscious awareness closer to your dreams, you know what those dreams feel like, your mind is much more likely to watch for dreams if you show yourself you care. And when you write a dream journal out your sending a message to your brain, your saying you care about what happens to you in your dream world, so your mind will always be more apt to become lucid. But also your motivation will improve, fear will decrease, because you know what to expect in the dream world. It brings your dream mind and waking mind closer together. If they are far apart your dream mind doesn't care about what your waking mind wants. When people with bad recall get lucid, they don't really feel the desire to take advantage of the dream.

      Thanks everyone.

LucidDreamGod: You've got some nice points, which i'm well aware of ^^

The thing that made me stop writing the dream journal was that i remembered too many dreams a day and it took too much time to write them all down and it was also tiresome... But i might take the tip of DreiHundert and only write down the one i like the most... Because really.. writing down even just 3-4 full dreams a day is too much for me...

Also i had many lucid dreams already, without writing a dream journal, so there is no problem with my motivation I never feel bored in my LDs.
