I've discovered something that works well for me, and am posting here in case someone else can benefit. For 6 months I've tried MILD and WBTB, and get about 1 LD a week. But I could not improve that rate. I started out at 1 a week so it was frustrating not to improve it. I worked hard at RCs during the day, and interrupted sleep at night. It was a lot of work for little result, and I felt like it was just luck that got me there. Very arbitrary.
Laberge and Waggoner both were at about 1 a week too until they learned MILD and greatly improved, so I figured I must be doing it wrong.
After 6 months I started to try DEILD.
While I could not always stay perfectly still upon awakening, I found I could find a comfortable position and then lie perfectly still. I could feel my limbs get sort of 'floaty' feeling. Then I would think I want lucid dream. I fall asleep quickly in this state, and so far have had an LD almost every night. This may be MILD but recalling earlier dreams isnt needed, so I stay sleepy. Lots of mantras arent needed. Heck even RCs during the day have been infrequent and dont seem critical. The only thing I can figure is this sleepy state lying perfectly still, you are succeptible to suggestion, and lying very still demonstrates serious intent to LD. Whatever the mechanics, it works for me. And now it doesnt seem arbitrary but intentional... I DO something specific to make it happen.
