They vary in length every single night. You have between 4-5 dreams I read somewhere, but usually dont remember them all.

This obviously depends on how long you sleep, but you can have anywhere from 3 to about 7, in my experience.

The best reason for having dreams is that in dreams no reasons are necessary.

No sailor controls the sea. Only a foolish sailor would say such a thing. Similarly, no lucid dreamer controls the dream.
Like a sailor on the sea, we lucid dreamers direct our perceptual awareness within the larger state of dreaming.

As you sleep, you go through sleep cycles. Each one is about 90 min long and it starts with nREM and ends with REM. At first, nREM is about 80 min and REM about 10 min long. As you sleep, nREMs are getting shorter and REMs longer. We mostly dream in REM stage. You can have many dreams in each REM. So it really depends on how long you sleep.

It is really inconsistent. As gab explained, it depends on many different factors. A single dream would be a bad night. Ten dreams would be a great night. On average, I have about three to five. More on weekends, when I can sleep in. I think this is pretty typical.

Well, the important factor here is not how many dreams you have as much as how many you can actually recall. 2-3 per night is probably the most I've averaged, but it's possible to have a particularly good night and recall more than that, or a bad night and have few or none.

It really depends on how long is your dream and how long is that REM stage. So at the beginning of sleep, your REM may be only 10 min long. So theoreticaly, you can have 10 - 1 min long dreams or 1 -10 min long one, or anything in between. You dream until that REM is over. Then you go through some nREM stages until you get to REM again. It's possible to dream in nREMs also, but those dreams are not as vivid or memorable. Hope this helps

I have had some lazy mornings where I lie in bed re-entering lucid dreams. I will have dozens of short dreams, rapid fire, interspersed with false awakenings, sleep paralysis, ect. Would those count as dreams?
