WILD last night, strange shaking effect

      Hi everyone,
I'm new here, this is in fact my first post. Just want to tell you all about a strange WILD I had last night, and perhaps pick your brains. It's worth noting this was not my first lucid dream, but it was the first one I induced deliberately.

Anyway, so for the first time in years, I was reading up on lucid dreaming last night, and how to induce it. I'm right in the middle of exams at the moment, and being the diligent student that I am, my sleeping pattern is all messed up. So it was about 2am and I was reading up on it, and I read that a good induction method is to get into a habit of regularly asking yourself 'Does this make sense? Is this a dream?' and looking at your digital watch.

Obviously you can't get yourself into that routine in an hour, but at 3am I decided to get some sleep, for my 9am exam this morning (went well, by the way ) - and I decided that as I lay in bed and fell asleep, I would constantly be asking myself if I was dreaming or not.

You know that stage where you're lying in bed thinking, and sleep is just starting to come? You can start sort of hearing things in your head, and sort of translucently seeing things? Well, I caught that happening and realised that I was falling asleep right then - and of course, realising that brought me back to being awake xD

Anyway, a bit later, I was dreaming - I was standing upstairs, in my grandparents' house, and I needed somebody to switch the light on in a room. For some reason, I didn't contemplate doing it myself, because it was someone else's job - namely, my best friend's. He seemed to be some sort of butler in this dream, and I knew that he was downstairs, about to leave - so I walked over to the stairs and called him up so that he could switch the light on. He came up - and then, suddenly, I realised how ridiculous the situation was. And I could remember everything from earlier when I was awake, so I knew it was a lucid dream - and suddenly, magically, a switch flicked and I had the controls.

The basic problem was, I think, is I didn't know how to use the controls. I can fly a glider, for example - but put me at the controls of a helicopter and it would soon be spiralling to the ground uncontrollably! Well, that's sort of what happened with this dream - I was very conscious of the fact that if I tried to control it too much, I would wake up. And there was this sort of power that I could feel, so I just let the power take hold of me, and it was like I was being wrenched around in the air, floating somehow (this happened in the lucid dream I had when I was a kid, too).

So I tried to do the standard things, like fly around the room - but I was aware that my whole body was shaking violently, and very fast. Like a two-stroke engine, it seemed! I could channel more power and make it shake very, very fast (which I thought somehow might be bad for me!) - and if I relaxed more, it would slow down to like a steady tickover. It was difficult to stay in the dream, like trying to balance something - and I woke up after a bit. But I'm pretty sure my body was shaking violently in real life!

Anyway, I'd be very grateful if anybody could shed any light on this... what was the shaking??

I really don't know.... You can feel heavy vibrations as you enter sleep paralysis. It feels as if your whole body is shaking. How hard varies. But I cant think of any reason to why you would feel that in a dream

Sometimes people overcome sleep paralysis to varying degrees and move their bodies while asleep. It usually relates to a sleep disorder but how much seems to vary. Obviously somnambulists (sleepwalkers) have it to the extreme level.

Are you involved with anyone? If so, you could ask them. I'm guessing no one was present during that experience.

You can also set up your own camera to see what happens when you sleep.

Well, I'm going to be attempting my first WILD tonight too, and today is my first day here too =D I'm not going to try controlling it at all, I'm going to try focusing on maintaining lucidity, see if I can pull things out of boxes that I need, if I think I'm going to wake up I'LL BLOW THEM ALL UP WITH ME! If I don't wake up first, but I will be playing with a lot of pyrotechniques! I've also been hearing about people "Invading" dreams, not to sure about this, but I kind of hope its true, would be a neat chalange to fight other people in your dream in unrestricted combat, eh? Anyway, I think I'm insane and should be going to sleep. I don't like the idea of waking up at 3am though ;_; I wasss going to do it last night so I gotta make sure my alarm goes off this time. Anyway, Good luck with any future dreams! I sure hope I'm not the only one who has had thoughs of mass genocide in dreams ;_; Im not insane D: I should post this before I write anything else like
