Angry So close for a lucid

So I have vivid dreams everyday so I had one dream that I was walking by my school and I did a reality check (putting your finger through your hand) and it didn't go through what happened?

Reality checks wont work 100% of the time. I'm taking it you did not become lucid.

Dreams range from completely illogical to decently logical. Sometimes, your hands are normal. Sometimes, the clock works perfectly fine. Sometimes, books look normal. Sometimes, the lights function properly. Sometimes, your reflection in the mirror is perfect.

You can't just do a reality check and expect to become lucid. I've had the same thing happen to me. I did a reality check and didn't become lucid. You need to practice awareness. When you do your reality checks, actually question reality. Question your presence in the world. Observe everything around you. How are you impacting the things around you? What can you smell, taste, feel, hear, or see that doesn't seem like reality? When you do a reality check, whether it be in real life, or in a dream, become aware of yourself and the world around you. I guarantee you will become lucid.

You need to do them more properly like h1nchm4n said. Check your memory, what you're doing and if where you are at makes any sense. Just keep on trying! Anything lucid related is progres.

I do the squeezing of the nose reality check and that never lets me down I also done the finger through the hand just after I done a reality check just to make sure and it felt really weird feeling my finger go through my hand

When you do reality checks in real life, expect it to work, expect to be dreaming. You could say in your head before you do one "If this is a dream, my hand will go straight through the other!" then perform the reality check. The more you believe it, the more chance you have to succeeding. Good luck

You have to expect for it to go through, don't just put your fingers on your palm... EXPECTATION IS THE KEY.

Every time you do the reality check you have to actually believe your finger will go through your palm. If you just expect it won't go through then when you are actually in the dream, it won't. Also don't just make doing reality checks a habit. Every time you do one take your time and look around you. Really try to figure out if you are dreaming.

Yeah I was surprised to read that lights are not supposed to respond to switches and reflections are not supposed to appear in mirrors. Why not? Usually, if you expect something to happen it does and I've had lights go on. I never remember to do the finger through the palm, but it may have to do with your expectation too

Holding the nose is the best...your mind can trick you for a breath or two maybe, if you dont seriously question reality, but I have found four attempts to breath always works. And RC checks in a dream can produce licidity even if you dont think you are dreaming. I have had 92 lds now... sometimes I just know I am dreaming, but sometimes I RC into lucidity.
