      How to lucid dream better?

3 nights ago, I had my first lucid dream. I did the whole "am I dreaming?" thing throughout my day, and ended up doing it in my dream. When I became lucid, I couldn't move and my vision was basically blocked by polka dots for some reason, and then it ended within like 15 seconds.

Did I do something wrong? Why was it so short? And why couldn't I do anything? Also, I haven't had any lucid dreams since then even though I've been reminding myself "Am I dreaming?"

Sorry if this is the wrong section! I'm new and assumed this was the right place, lol.

      Hey, welcome to the site.

One of my first few Lucid was the same, not able to do much and not have good vision. You didn't do anything wrong. Most people's first Lucid's are short, myself included, I was so excited at the fact I knew I was dreaming I didn't have any time to do anything because I was so excited and woke myself up. Next time you are dreaming, and your vision is blurred or whatever, try rubbing your hands or shouting out something like "clarity", which works for me. When I first had my Lucid, my next one didn't come for a few days afterwards, just keep practising your techniques and you'll get more and more.

      Stick with it.

Ohh so if you get excited you lose the dream? Aww that explains it lol. Weird how rubbing your hands or something will keep your dream going though! Haha. I also heard spinning around works (I tried but I was still stuck in place...lol)

Thanks for the tips I'll make sure to remember those!!

      No problem.

Getting excited doesn't end the dream, I think I phrased that wrong, lol, dreams can still excite you without waking you up, my bad. Probably that initial shock that you get, when you first realize that you are dreaming, I had that, but managed to stay calm.

Stabilization is different for everyone, rubbing my hands doesn't work for me but it works for others, where as I have to spin to stabilize and touch things. My first few lucids sucked but now they are getting good
