      remaining calm

LD seems to come easy for me. I've just started learning techniques from this forum and have already had about 5 ld's in about 2 weeks. I don't do reality checks or keep a dream journal. When I'm dreaming...I just know it! Then I just start doing whatever I want. However they don't last as long as I'd like mainly because I get to excited and then I wake up. Any tips on remaining calm so I can have longer ld's?

Then you have to do reality checks to control your dream and it will help you to have longer LD’s.

Good you don't have to use reality checks because your awareness of the dream itself is enough to become aware of what is going on.

Although if you want to make the dream stable, you first of all need to stop reacting on instincts like we all do in dreams, I still have some problem with it from time to time.
But since it sometimes is impossible to solve with the lack of dreaming awareness, the best thing to do is to relay on your intent. You do that by reminding yourself and making it a habit to remind yourself "When I am lucid I will make tons of reality checks, lick the floor, touch an object" Hehe what ever you want to do to try to stabilize the dream.

With instincts I mean that you are aware of dreaming, but you still consider dream things as important. Like in some of my dreams I still believe that if I see my dad, he IS my dad.

If you get too excited and wake up the answer is simple but boring...
Keep practicing until you don't get excited anymore it happens believe me.

      Good luck

There isn't really any special trick to remain calm in a dream, it's just something that you do. It's the same with fear, you just take control over it, so it doesn't take control over you. Practice makes perfect though! The more you lucid dream, the more you get used to the feeling of it, and how easier it will be to not wake up from excitement.

All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.

It's best to have failure happen early in life. It wakes up the Phoenix bird in you so you rise from the ashes.
