      WILD method and meditation.

I've been trying to achieve steady dream control and lucidity for months. I don't usually have typical nightmares, mostly just REALLY anxiety ridden dreams. I wanted to start using lucidity and control as a way of escaping these cyclical dreams. I have initial insomnia and AD/HD (I believe they are related and my anxiety makes it worse.) Meditation is very difficult for me but I recently found some methods that work fairly well at clearing my mind. The problem that I have is that I have attempted WILD before (once I actually did it but quickly lost lucidity) and most of the time since I learned how to meditate properly I don't end up sleeping at all. I found one night that I had meditated for 4 hours just trying to achieve a wake induced lucid dream. I guess my brain is still too active but what can I do about that? Also, any tips on dream control? I'm often much weaker in my dreams then in real life, as though my arms are limp noodles.

Hmm, have you tried using white noise when you do your WILD attempts? It has helped me fall asleep easier, while holding on to a bit of awareness by focusing on the buzzing.

Also, I recommend reading through Sageous' WILD class. It's very informative and in depth.

You can try doing some dream incubation to improve your dream control. Basically you visualize scenarios and things you want to happen in your dreams, so when you get lucid, you have a better chance of actually achieving them.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Since you have your heart set on WILD, I should not recommend DILD, but I'm gonna anyways

It would be better method, because it will not keep you up, as WILDing does. You just go to sleep normally and become lucid in a regular dreams thanks to daytime practice. You can check out DV Wiki for bunch of DILD tutorials, and here is one too. Check them out and decide if it would better fit your lifestyle. That doesn't mean, that when time is right for a WILD, you can't attempt. BTW, you should not WILD as you first go to sleep at night, but after at least 4.5 hrs of sleep. Happy dreams
