      Lucid inside a non lucid?

That was weird. I just woke up, I'm pretty sure for real this time, so this is all pretty fresh. I was in downtown Cincinnati and I was doing some really great flying, Superman style, all over downtown near the tops of the buildings, great sense of speed with the wind in my face and everything, some of the best flying I've ever done in a dream. While I was flying around I said to myself, "Wow, this is great. I must be dreaming." Then I became as aware as I've ever been in a dream, to the point of remembering things I'd read on here and everything, but I stayed calm and just flew around for a while longer while I thought about what I would like to do.

I decided that I would like to fly to the moon, but I wanted to start out at night from the house so I could see it in the night and just see it get bigger as I got closer and instantly it was night time and I was home, but home was a house I grew up in and haven't lived in since I was 15. I started flying toward the moon and felt like I was going to wake up, so I did some of the tricks I've read about on here, hand rubbing and what not, and continued flying for a while. Then I woke up anyway.

When I woke up I was lying in bed next to my wife and feeling like I wanted to engage in some extracurricular activities, but there was someone else in the bed too, a high school classmate I haven't seen in a few years. I was thinking about this great vivid lucid dream I had just had and my classmate said the same thing, that she had just had a lucid dream and wanted to get back into it. Oddly enough, I didn't become lucid here. I just kissed my wife a couple times and then woke up for real.

The question's this? How lucid was I really before I woke up the first time? I sure felt pretty strongly aware, but after the FA, I wasn't aware I was still dreaming,in spite of some pretty strong indicators.

For me it sounds that you were 100% Lucid until the FA happened. You were aware of that it was a dream and that you were sleeping, you remembered things you read in your wakening state and decided by yourself what you want to do, so you were in full control.

But I never heard of becoming lucid, than have an False Awakening and losing lucidity immediately despite an obvious dream sign.
I just asked the question in the IRC Channel, and Paigeyemps said it is in fact quite normal, because your brain think you're not dreaming anymore, so it's like a reset of your awareness.

You are either lucid, or you are not. (You were). The only thing that can and is different is your level of awareness.

If you lucid with little awareness, first seconds may be clear and focused and you do an RC and you stabilize and do what you wanna do. But dream may soon become fuzzy, you will most likely just follow the plot, you don't have presence of mind to RC and stabilize continuously to keep yourself in the dream, and dream can soon turn into regular dream (FA is just that), because you forget that you are dreaming.

With higher awareness, you are able to keep stabilizing and reminding yourself that you are in a dream, or even stop stabillizing, because dream is vivid and focused and stable.
