Better dream recall when woken up by something, before falling back asleep? (Not WILD)

I haven't remembered any of my dreams for the past four days or so, but I slept on the living room couch because my friend passed out on my bed last night. Someone inadvertently woke me up, I fell back asleep immediately, and I vividly remembered three of my dreams. Does anyone else know about this having an effect on recall?

Well, you remember your dreams with the most ease if you wake up during REM. Might have been in REM when you woke up.

It could have been a number of reasons, but like matte said it probably had to do with being woken up in REM or the fact that you were sleeping in a different place which can often keep the body at a more heightened state of awareness. I'd be willing to bet it was just once of luck.
DO you try to remember your dreams?

@Matte: I remembered the dreams which I had after the first time I woke up, so I guess I was still in REM then too

@dutch: I do try, I keep a journal (private, soz) and other stuff.
