Try focusing on your anchors (counting down, counting breaths, etc.) more so you don't fall asleep as easily. It will take a little bit longer but you won't outright lose consciousness. You could also try focusing on a more external sound instead of counting in your head or focusing on heartbeats. For example if you have a fan in your room you could focus on that, or even some quiet music though this may keep you too awake. However if you find you fall asleep too easily then music may work best for you, just be sure it's slower/quieter and not loud rock, jazz, or anything really exciting.

if you feel you need to, you can try setting an alarm to wake yourself incase you fail the WILD. and dont worry too much about failing the WILD. when you fail, you are closer to being able to prevent another failure, for instance, i am starting to use a new alarm to help with LDing. it did not wake me up the first night, and due to that failure i knew how to prevent it. use earbuds . so like i said, dont worry about the failures. also, you can try the technique known as DEILD to chain dreams. there is a great guide for it in the tutorial section.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

I'm sure you know, that best time to WILD is after a few hours of sleep, but I'm just gonna mention it just in case. And if you use WBTB and fall asleep too soon, try to stay up little longer. Make sure you wake up, but you still sleepy enough. It's a tough balancing act and that's why it takes a lots of practice.

Try not to focus on getting into SP, as many people can't really tell when they are in SP. If you one of them, you may miss your chance at WILD, waiting to feel the SP, while you may be in it without knowing. Instead, concentrate on images behind your closed eyelids, just as you read about it in tutorials in Wiki and in threads in WILD forum. Happy dreams
