      No Excitement From Lucid Dreams

The first time I had a lucid dream and realised I was dreaming, I became excited enough to wake up a few seconds after. Now I don't get excited at all. I am definitely lucid, not having a false lucid dream. I am just mildly annoyed, as well as curious, because it subtracts from the whole experience in a way. Just wondering if anyone has anything to say on the subject.

In a way it just feels natural, like it should happen. There's no thrill of being suddenly and completely aware that you are dreaming anymore, well, since that first time. Earlier last year, I went through a phase of doubting that I was lucid at all as there was no "snap" as I went from non-lucid to lucid.

I don't get super excited in my lucid dreams anymore either, the feeling of doing something that's impossible in real life though is pretty awesome. Flying and such. I think you need to set up a few more goals, short term and long term and start focusing on achieving them, I'm sure you'll get more excited that way.

      Well, same for me
I just created a technique that seems to work for me, it gave me already 2 LD's. But somehow I'm not very excited to go to sleep tonight and achieve another LD.
      I really don't know why

Maybe that's a good thing. The more excited you are about lucid dreaming, the harder it becomes, in many cases.
But make sure you stick with it.

Lucid dreaming is an empty concept in itself. Picture it as a tv: it can take you anywhere, but you still have to pick a movie otherwise you'll be staring at the screen for no reason
      Superadam051 and dutchraptor like this.

i thought the hedonic treadmill phenomenon didnt apply to LD

hope you get your excitement back !!
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

I agree with zoth, the experience can be just as exhilarating even after 500 lucids, it just depends on what you make of it yourself. As matte said, set up some goals and try to achieve things you've always wanted to do.

I would say think about it like... Well... What I am about to describe.
The first few times you get really excited and it ends quickly. aw... You think I didn't get to do all the things I had in mind, but that was amazing.
It takes a few times, but then you get the excitement down and you are able to concentrate on the task at hand and accomplish great things. Yeah, there is not the initial holy crap oh my gosh ness as the first time, but it is more satisfying.
