      Colors in Lucid Dreams

      This is a very mind boggling subject to which i believe i have the answer but would like to hear the communities input on...the topic is;

      Seeing New Colors in a Dream

      Okay so let me start this off by saying i have not done this to my recollection. But i think that the human brain is only wired to see the colors which we can interpret with our eyes from birth. Since our eyes are only capable of seeing a specific set of colors would we able to see new one's in a dream? Do other colors exist? If we hypothesize that they do, could our brain even remember them? In Lucid and non-lucid dreams, people have been able to see with 360 degree vision. Something we can visualize now, but otherwise are incapable of doing in real life. Have any of you guys done this before? Im pretty sure our brain wouldn't be able to perform this but who knows, and if it did none of you would be able to describe it obviously because its something we cannot visualize. Just wanted to see what you guys had to say on the matter!

      PS: when i say new color, i dont mean some new shade of a color we know i mean something completely new

      I thought about that for awhile, I can picture overlaying a colour with it's opposite mix, i.e red-green yellow-purple and blue-orange (which are normally perceived as white). Doing this give's me a spectrum I've never seen with my eyes.

      Everything is possible in an lucid dream, creating/seeing new colors too.
      And we aren't limited in a spectrum that we can perceive in dream as well, that might be one of reasons why new color might be indescribable in waking live, it might simple be not possible to recreate it there.
      Haven't done that personally yet though, just guessing.

      Impossible colors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

      Layering colours seems to be a way to see impossible colours, try this next time you have an LD.

      some people say that you dream what you've experienced. so if you haven't seen the new colors in real life, you can't see the new colors in a dream. but i don't know.

      I am not saying it's impossible but I have never seen a new color in a lucid dream. I have heard new songs, seen new places, experienced new technology and done hundreds of things that could not possibly be done in the real world but the colors are pretty much all the same as in real life - for me, anyhoo.

      You should look for one! I haven't seen a new color, I have just seen vibrant ones, and colors where they don't belong.

      Lucid dreaming is different than normal dreams because you can live through whatever you choose. Also dreams seem to be based on what your thoughts are about, so if you can "think" of a new color you should be able to see one even if not lucid. All you have to do is change your eyes to see beyond the normal frequency to higher than red (I think red is the higher one)

      When they say you only dream of what you've experienced, it doesn't mean you strictly dream about those you have gone through. It simply means that the content in your dreams is founded on everything you perceive through your senses. However, there is no limit as to how the brain can combine those different perceptions and come up with something new — be it objects, people, music, etc.

      I've had an experience where I saw a completely new shade/hue of color, but then again, if it's something we've never perceived before and our brain constructed it, i think it will be really hard to identify it in the first place. The closest I can infer from that dream was that it was some kind of ultraviolet light or something. I can't even explain what it looks like, or how it felt, etc. because how exactly can someone explain something that he has never perceived before? All i know is that it was something i'd never seen before, and cant put words to. I personally believe that in dreams, it is indeed possible to see something our physical bodies cannot normally perceive due to certain limits—which our mind doesn't have.

      But that's just me x)

      Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      I honestly have no idea. Conjuring something like that up on your own would be reeeaaally tough, i presume, since you have no clue what it's gonna be like
