I've always thought the adoption/mentorship was an awesome idea. A short while ago, I took up a couple of lucid apprentices but they sorta disappeared from the forum. D: |

I stumbled over an old post from an "Adoption Program" forum and thought that it was a pretty cool idea. |

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

Rawr!
It's totally cool to help someone one-on-one or unofficially adopt someone if you wish. This is part of why we put so much emphasis on the DreamViews Academy. The DVA really does allow you to ferret out one method and get one-on-one feedback through your workbook and the chats. We've tried to make the DVA smooth and easy to fit into for this reason. |

Hmm, why? I just gave advice to someone on WILD. While I used to DILD many times years ago, but this time I only have been successful once and it was with WILD. Now I made sure to mention that I only have had one successful WILD thus far, but that's one more than the person I was giving advice to. So are you saying they should not listen to me? Of course, if someone more experienced comes along and gives them better advice, I agree they should listen to that more experienced LDer more, but I think my advice on WILD is valid. Also I have read a lot: while advice based on things one has read as opposed to on personal experience is different, and ideally should be denoted as such, but it can still be very valuable advice if I have learned something that someone else has not yet. |

JoannaB, you seem to give good advice from what I have seen, but I think the idea is that it would not be a good idea for a novice to officially mentor someone when you barely have had any experience yourself. I think that is a good rule of thumb for any area of expertise. Giving advice is fine, I would think, especially since you made your experience level clear to them. |

That I can wholeheartedly agree with. I am definitely not planning to mentor anyone. |
