I have seen lots of good things come from LDing in my case as well. I am glad you have such a positive experience now!
I couldn't possibly imagine pursuing lucid dreaming without changing my habits. What chance did I have of achieving LDs when I was still a stressed out unaware forgetful negative thinking me? And once I became more self-aware how could I help but change some of the stuff I saw and didn't like? One of the things I love about dreaming is how intricately it is connected to everything else. I can keep an aquarium without changing my life drastically, and I can crochet without too much impact, but how could I dream and pay attention to dreams and not let it affect everything - to me that's impossible, and doing it wrong frankly.

Well... It really only effected my sleep schedule and a few other small things (purposefully), I never have been inclined to stress, and I have always daydreamed most of the day long. So it just changed what I daydreamed about and. from the outside looking in, I just seem a little more awake to everyone, and nothing else. I can see how you could want it to effect ya though if you are stressed out in the first place.
