Hmm, I don't think that will happen, only because each person is different, and the process of induction is unlikely to be easy what ever.
Pills are a no-no for many people, regardless of how safe they are claimed to be. There are bound to be side-effects or problems with tolerance or dose ineffectiveness (can't remeber the medical term where you have to take more and more to work).
Devices will have their place I'm sure, but the very nature of LD'ing will make them less than 100%. I still think devices will always have the problem that they will either wake the subject up, or not induce.
I thnk they have to work with your own capability to be effective.

I think you need to dream a bit bigger when it comes to thinking about our future, Goldenspark Or maybe just look a little further ahead. There will come a future when our own consciousness is just as malleable as putty in our hands. At some point of the journey to that there will be technology that allows us to play with our sleeping minds. (As long as some warmongering idiot hasn't decided that blowing us all up with nuclear bombs should be a priority, of course.)

My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

You're right... at the level of technology we have now. There are probably researchers now who are investigating the location of the 'lucidity centre' of the brain, and how to activate it.

Always, no sometimes think it's me,
But you know I know when it's a dream
      I think I know I mean a yes
      But it's all wrong
That is I think I disagree
