      Daydreaming In a Dream?

This is my first Thread so bear with me and any mistakes I make. So recently I've been more aware of my daydreaming during the day. This made me notice how I never daydream while in a dream and really the only thinking I do to myself while dreaming is on what actions to do next (during both non-lucid and lucid dreams) Is it possible to actually daydream in a dream? Or, since your mind is already occupied with creating your dream, is it impossible to daydream?

One thing to keep in mind is that in dreams your expectations and thoughts actually alter your dream reality, unlike in waking life where you can visualize being a butterfly and daydream about how you would then fly out into the sky and with your wings make such a strong wind that a building would topple on the other side of the earth, and yet however much you visualize that, it won't actually happen in waking reality, hopefully anyway right? In a dream, when you visualize being a butterfly, you become the butterfly. Since expectations shape dream reality, an attempt to daydream in a dream would be likely to change your dream reality and not just stay in the confines of your thoughts.

It's definitely possible. But like JoannaB said, it can change the dream. Usually when I'm thinking about something during a dream, I'll see a visual image of whatever I'm thinking about; if I'm thinking about the past, the scene will change to show me the past.

I'm just speculating here. But one possible reason you don't notice yourself day dreaming in dreams much, is because in dreams it seems like there is almost always something really important going on to keep your attention. In dreams, for me at least, I'm not usually sitting around thinking about stuff much. It's mostly all doing. Always some kind of action or drama. That's another good reason why attaining Lucidity can be so difficult. Because those are also the times in waking life when it's the most difficult to stay focused on questioning reality. When there is some important drama you're involved with. So it's no wonder it's hard to get yourself to stop and think about it in a dream.

If I day dream in a dream, I teleport or create a fake memory. :3

I don't know about daydreaming, but I have had dreams within dreams--I had one such dream last night. In fact, the first time I got involved trying to lucid dream, I had several dream within dreams and false awakenings leading up to my very first ld.

The second time around (I just had my second LD night before last), I didn't have any FAs or dream-within-dreams leading up to it. That said, last night I had a really crazy dream that I was dreaming and in that dream I was lucid. it was pretty crazy. So, if one can be in a dream within a dream, I don't see why one couldn't daydream within a dream.

All these layers of dreams upon dreams...it gets confusing sometimes, almost reminiscent of Inception
