      Boring Lucid

My recall isn't great- I remember, on average, 2 dreams per night. This morning, while thinking about lucid dreaming, I remembered that I actually had one last night. But it was a really boring LD. I did an RC in the dream, became lucid, and studied my hands for a second. Once I became lucid, the dream scene changed to my house. I was all alone in there, and tgere was nothing to do. I decided to try and teleport somewhere interesting, so I told myself that going through a doorway would lead me somewhere cool. It didn't work. That's all I can remember.

What did I do wrong? What can I do to keep from having another lame LD?

You just have to increace your dream recall and have intention to do dream stabilization technique like rubbing you hands together as soon as you become lucid this will bring more dream control and awareness. To increace your dream recall all you have to do is everytime you wake relive the dream and try to remember as much as you can. You never can be lazy with this because you will lose your dream recall ability.

I studied my hands to try to stabilize it.

My problem with recall is that I'm never aware when I naturally wake up during the night after my REM cycles are over. By the time I fully gain waking consciousness, in the morning, my earlier dreams are long-forgotten.

I also tried looking at my hands to stabilize it but most of the time my hand looked normal and it didnt affect much on dream.
Do you write dream journal? To me my dream recall became better just by writing as much as i could remember from my dreams everyday. When you wake just write what you remember you dont have to write every detail just reminders from different scenes so you can recall them. When i started i could only remember parts of my dream and about 1 dream a night but few night later i could recall all most my every dream. Some people have said to use mantra like ``i will remember my dreams`` before they falling asleep but it didnt work for me. Thats all the tips i have.

I keep a dream journal, yes. I have pretty good recall quantity wise (remember 3-4 separate dreams a night) but when it comes to the details I can hardly remember anything.

How does one become more aware of the natyral awakenings after REM cycles? That seems like the best way to remember dreams.

To me it just happenend but i still dont wake up everyday after every sleep cycle.
I think you are already doing very well when it comes to lucid dreaming. You already had one you probably didnt remember much because you werent 100% aware in lucid dream. I dont think its enough just studying your hands maybe you should try to look and feel your surroundings and try to understand more about the dream. Then after your analyzed your dream then start doing stuff like teleportation. I also forget parts of my boring lucid dreams because in them i dont do the dream stabilization techniques properly and use enough time to do it.

      Congrats on the lucid Giantsqu1d!

Any lucid is better than not because it shows you your level of awareness in dreams is growing or at least remaining solid.
What I would do is explore the house. Find out what is there and try not to control the environment too much. It takes time to develop control and typically it develops based on the person. Everyone does things in their lucids just a bit different.
Use your imagination, talk to a dc, go outside, do something to make the best of the LD so the next time you have one, it will be longer and more satisfying.
      Good luck!

Please don't take this the wrong way. But the only thing I see wrong with your lucid is that you called it boring.

The thing is, your subconsious listens to you and pays attention to your reaction to everything. So if after long practice it finally gives you a lucid, but you instead of jumping from joy yelling "thankyouthankyouthankyou!" think "meh, boring, not what I wanted", you subconsious will go "What now? I thought he wanted a lucid. I guess not."

You have achieved something incredible. You have woken up your mind, when everybody elses is asleep. You have crossed the threshold. Now all you need to do is do it again and expand on it.

Being in your house in your first few lucids is actually helpfull. No distractions, so you can practice stabilizing, hovering/flying, walking through solids/walls/windows, summoning, transforming...

But the best thing to do is just calmy observe your dream and get used to that feeling.

      Good luck and happy dreams
