Thread: Dream within a dream

It's not the "layers" you are thinking of from Inception. Rather, false awakenings. Look them up. I think this is what you are speaking of.

I've never seen Inception so I don't know what you mean by layers. Just know its a movie about dreaming.

I suppose you could call this a false awakening since I 'woke up' in it but the part that I find intriguing is the bit where I became 'aware' in the dream where I was dreaming before I 'woke up' even though I just let the dream continue on without wanting to take control or noticing nothing strange about riding a giant spider. I was sort of conscious but not really. I was not actually aware that I was dreaming, just dreaming that I was dreaming.

After seeing GizEdwards and ReeceJones87 I'm pretty sure this was a Layer 2. Also, in my first post you'll note it was really a mix of Layer 2 and false awakening. So, when I falsely awoke in my dream I asked my dream characters i had in the dream(my bro and pop) afterI 'woke up' if they had the same dream and they said they did. So, there were some interactions with the characters about the fact that I was dreaming as well. So I am not sure which of ReeceJones87's Layer 2 Minor/Major definition it fits.

In any case, this is really encouraging because within 10 days of trying to have lucid dreams, I have already had Layer 2 type dreams. Gives me real belief that I'll be capable of breaking through my dream consciousness and stabilizing my inner consciousness in the dream world.
