      Non-Lucid Flying

Seems many people fly in non-lucid dreams, as if flying is very natural to their subconscious minds. What's funny is, how many dreams I've heard about people flying but they never become lucid, as if flying is not good for a dream sign because it seems so normal or something.

Have you ever had non-lucid flying dreams?

It's the "explain away" that always gets me. Such as, "Oh, I'm flying because there are a lot of strong up currents in this part of town" or "My bike is flying because it has helium in the tyres". I feel like something's mocking me sometimes.

I don't see any reason why flying should make you lucid when you regularly have chats with dead relatives and do things like go back to a school (when you left school twenty years ago) without giving them a second thought.

Unaided flying is at least as normal as any other way of transportation for me in non-lucid dreams. Also, my car has excellent flying ability. Quite generally, I'm highly magical in non-lucid dreams, with telekinesis being a speciality of mine.

Maybe a reason, why this never prompts me to attain lucidity, is my life-long fascination with magic and all things beyond physical reality. It's simply on my mind too much when I'm awake.

So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

I've flown in non-lucid dreams, but it doesn't happen often. I don't think it's happened in a few months at least.

So far I've *only* flown in non-lucids. I love flying, and I've had a bunch of them recently. In many recent flyings I exercised lucid-like control, for example, speed control and zoom-acceleration (picking a place in the distance, "zooming" it in your vision, and "snapping" right to that location).

Flying and hovering is natural to me in lucid and non-lucid dreams. As a matter of fact, I've noticed that I usually go lucid when I'm attempting to walk, as if my brain is like "Wait a minute, walking? That seems weird!"

I've also noticed that when I go lucid, it's next to impossible to walk or run. I feel like a heavy pressure is keeping my legs from moving. My motion of choice is hovering a few inches off the ground.

In dream logic doesnt work. 2 days ago i had a dream where i flew and did all sorts of crazy stuff and didnt become lucid. After i woke up i went back to sleep and had a false awakening where i went to get a shirt from my closet but i noticed little sractch on my cabinet door which cause me to become lucid. I always become lucid by some stupid reason like some cup being in wrong place even though before that i was doing things like jumping from buildings thinking it was normal.

Happened lots of times - awareness is just too limited when it happened to me, and there's no faculty of questioning or performing an RC.

I find this interesting too - is it perhaps that this is the way that we act in the waking world? Ignore and explain away all kinds of crazy phenomena that are now just 'normal'?

Isn't that how they explain "normal people" not realising strange stuff in fantasy or mystery series ? the hero is aware, and the others just ignore the fantastical stuff thats happening. but back to the topic, flying in any dream is a habit to me. lucid or not, I am able to fly and sort of ...practice it and trying to be better at it. I remember other flying experiences from other dreams whenever I'm doing it.

I sometimes find myself flying in non-lucids but have only noticed it since flying in lucids, I also fly the same way as in lucids. It's as if my lucids taught my dreamworld that I can fly in them. Happens with other stuff. I use telekenesis in non-lucids fairly often but I've never known doing it before using it in LD's and again I use the same method.
