      Failed Reallity check?

Hello Dreamers! I had a dream the other night, in wich i was with some of my friends in my school discussing a new "lucid dreaming device". I was not lucid at all. I had no idea that this was a dream.
So we moved on and walked out of the school and crossed a road. And i suddenly stopped and said "guys whait for me, im just going to preform a reallity check"
And so i preformed the "plug your nose reallity check" and i could breathe through, but just a little bit (maybe because i have a cold and perhaps had clogged nose)
And just because i could breathe through so slightly i thought "well it is because im not plugging my nose that hard, that is the reason why i can breathe through". I did not att all consider the thought that i might was dreaming...

Why didn't i think that i was dreaming? Why did my reallity check fail?
      Any ideas?
      Thank you all!

Reality checks fail sometimes its a common thing, maybe have more than 1 reality check as to have a backup if it fails, also do you practice ADA?

ADA- All Day Awarness. It means that youre asking yourself during the day : ''I am dreaming? ''Is this a dream? "" . By the way I had a failed RC too 2 nights ago but it didn`t destroyed my LD. I watched my hands but nothing strange happened. Then i put my finger trough the hand and knew that I`m dreaming so its clear that other people have this problem too. Train yourself to do at least 2 RC in a row so if one fails the other one passes. And if the both of them fail at some point when you wake up you know that you have to change your RCs. There are lots of them so don`t worry ;D

Actually i do practice 3 RC in a row and and i do ask myself "am i dreaming? is this a dream?" on a daily basis
So maybe it was just bad luck. I have just started lucid dreaming again after quitting for a roughly a year.

I had the same thing several times - thought, I would be cheating on my nose-plug in some way.
Luckily I repeated and did other things and didn't miss out on lucidity these instances.
What I do now is breathe out fully - irl and LD - and then do it.
Note how that feels irl - the snapping for air after you re-open.
That makes you believe it then in a dream! Did it twice since then in LD and it was fully convincing then.
      Good luck!

A RC that always works for me is feeling your sorroundings. like for example put your hand on the ground and look at your fingers stretched out on gravel, cement, grass, a table top (Whatever your holding) and usually either your hand will morph into something strange (7 fingers, missing fingers, talons, etc) and/or the ground will be moveable, shapeable or your hand will go thru it. and weather the ground or my hand tips me off, it always works for me. good luck !

I do really like the nose-pinch, since I view it as rather checking if I can make myself really having to snap for air.
Did it once more successfully since last post in here.
That simply doesn't work in LD, since your real body goes on breathing, no matter what you dream, or if you have breathing equipment there or not.
Only feeling in the nose, if I can breathe through - as said - that failed to convince me several times.

The mind will always try to justify everything, even if you're standing in front of a blue elephant, so you need to fully analize your surroundings, make your reality checks, but what I think really helps is to remember how you got there, what where your doing before?, like a very quick flashback of your day.
Last week I was in a dream, I made my reality check, everything seem normal to me... I was about to continue with the dream when I remembered that the mind will always justify eveything, so I went back again, analized surrounding, tried to remember how I got there which becomes difficult, and so I noticed the things that weren't right, like being with people I haven't seen for years.
