Right now I am at close to 7 a week (so close). It took me 6 months to get to more than one a week. Check out my DJ or my ramblings in order to see my learning curve. I honestly think that I am not a natural or an exception. I have worked very hard. I PMed every single person that I could find that LDed a lot and got advice. I had a mentor and then I had another "mentor" that is more of a friend now. Remember to pay attention to who you take advice from.

I see people ask questions and get 9 answers. 7 of them from dream guides or someone that has a good amount of LDs, 1 that has 1 LD, and one that has 2 posts on the site. They always take the advice of the 2 that say to do something different. Then they get mad 6 months later when they have 1 LD "I didn't do anything that mattered, why am I not LDing? You are telling me that WBTB is good and trying to just WILD is going to be very unproductive, like you told me 6 months ago and is riddled around the whole site, but I am gonna act like it is the first time I heard it."

I get angry at people like that. follow who you want to end up like.

Thank you for your input BrandonBoss. Do you use WILD or WBTB techniques? One issue I have is insomnia. If I wake up during the night for more than a few minutes I often can't fall back to sleep. Even worse, if I wake up and activate my brain (writing, reading, etc) or see bright light I'm out of luck with falling back to sleep. So, for the most part I am limited to DILD techniques.
      Total LDs (some very brief) = 2004: 4 * 2005: 18 * 2006: 16 * 2007: 2 * 2008: 0 * 2009: 0 * 2010: 1 * 2011: 12 * 2012: 3 * 2013: 1 * 2014: 6 * 2015: 1 * 2016: 0 * 2017: 18 * 2018: 3 * 2019: 0 (so far)

I use wild and wbtb and DILD and DEILD. What relaxation tech do you use to fall asleep? You should be able to overcome it from that. Unless it is just stress related, in which case you need to deal with stress in order to LD anyways. My WBTB is what I call a micro WBTB. It is short and I wake myself up only to the point that I know I can fall back to sleep. I wake up 4-6 times a night. I put my dreams down at night like this:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...cro-wbtbs.html

I have used a recorder before, but I just use my journal app on my phone now that I can fall asleep at will (even with the severe allergies that I have right now).

I wild about twice a week. I lean towards DILD as much as possible because if you try to force a wild it will lead to insomnia, and I don't want to miss a chance to DILD because of wild.

Also, 1 LD a week seems like a lot at first, but the more that you have, the more that you want. Most people fail at their goals by a little bit. Aim for the stars, miss by miles. I never wanted 1 LD a week. I want to always be lucid in every dream. Set high future goals and reasonable short term goals. If you want, I should be able to get you to 1 LD a week (on average) in a couple months. Just PM me!

Have you looked up how to deal with insomnia? If not, I have some hints and tips for you.

Right now I'm doing some meditation before bed, and I fall asleep pretty easily. It is waking up during the night that causes the issue. My stress if far lower than it used to be, but there is still some unavoidable work stress.

I do wake up several times during the night, after my dreams. I spend anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes recalling the dream I just had, and making mental notes of keywords I will use to remember the dream in the morning. Typically I can doze back off after this as long as I stay still and keep my eyes closed. But, I assume I am waking up at the end of my REM cycle so at that point I probably won't go right back to REM/dream state if I fall back to sleep.

I've done some research and do use relaxation and stress reduction techniques, try to avoid blue light 1-2 hrs before going to bed, reading a good fiction book helps me to fall asleep, I take magnesium before bed (but not every night) which works well. I try to avoid processed sugar as much as possible, which destroys my sleep. No caffeine, or any other stimulants ever. I have removed almost all light sources from my bedroom and put a red filter on my alarm clock. I have a good handle on falling asleep (I struggled with that for years...not being able to fall asleep until after midnight and then I have to get up for work at 5 am...that was hell).

One more thing: Unless I am utterly exhausted or very sick I just can't nap during the day (But boy do I wish I could).

My big issue is staying asleep. Or in the case of WILD or WBTB, once I'm awake I'm wide awake.
