This might sound a little "much," but you might consider (during your waking hours) to do some walking and other simple activities with your eyes closed. I am not talking about a large amount of time here. (15 mins broken up into a few minutes here and there is plenty) You'll truly feel every motion you make.
This practice builds synchronicity among the senses, reminds the body how important your vision is (to function at its best) and also builds a kind of trust in "knowing" that you're still capable of doing something and thanking your other senses for being so affective.
We can all imagine what it would be like to be blind (to a degree). I'd say the odds are good that at least a handful of souls on this forum have lived at least one "past life," blind.
At any rate, I know of some different folks who had a similar problem as yours, Cale and this method worked well for them.
