      Reality Checks Trouble

      Hi everyone I know about lucid dream for 3 years . But I still haven't had a lucid dream . Sorry for bad English OK I have a problem with reality checks .
      1) I can't use my mobile phone to set alarm because my family doesn't want me to have lucid dreams they mustn't know that i am trying to have lucid dreams .
      2) I choose a colour for instance pink . But when I saw a pink object I forget to do reality checks .
      What I should do ?I am dream journaling but without reality checks It isn't effective How can I do reality checks regularly ?
      Please help me writing this thread took my 20 minutes

      Hey ho

      That is really sad to here that your family don't support you at all But keep being motivated!
      I would suggest you to do other reality checks and I also think looking for the color pink isn't a good method because I don't think you will always see the color pink in your dreams.
      It's better to look after dream signs for example people who occur in your dreams very often or familiar places. If you don't have any dream signs yet I would say you should question yourself if you are dreaming. I do it all the time now and since then I have quite some LDs.

      Many times a day just tap on a surface and see how it feels, and then think about if it felt right. Then look at something and watch for changes and if the details look right. Really try to see if you are awake or dreaming. This kind of reality check can not be seen by your family and can be done many times daily.

      Also, remember that reality checks are only to ''confirm'' you are dreaming. Try to always check if you are dreaming, just by being aware of your surroundings and if they seem right.

      Thanks your answer was very very helpful I want to try talk to my subconscious in my LDs it motivates me Thanks for advices I have dreamsings . For instance my parrot and dream locations . In my dream my parrot has always different shapes or I have parrots one more . But I rarely dream about my parrot . My other dreams sign locations are more effective . I think if I check my surroundings I will be succeed . Thank you very much

      My surroundings in a dream is very very different and realise if I am dreaming is so easy . Thank you very much I will be aware my surroundings .

      The best reality check you can ,and iv been doing it for 20+ years is to listen to your first thought in your dream when you realize its a dream, if you hear your self say " is this a dream " or " am i dreaming" then the obvious answer is yes,, relality check complete and understood,,u can practice in the real world by looking at any object and saying it loud in you mind, this gets u more used to hearing your own thoughts,,,, sweet dreams ,, don't be afraid,,,

      I don't know if this helps but here it is what i did relating to my family.
      I told them what i was trying to achieve, and they said that was impossible
      and they looked at me as i was some lunatic guy. But i just ignored them
      I now have a goal in my life, where i can get rid of my problems, and do whatever
      i want to. Since i discovered LD. i dont care anymore what other people say or think about me.

      About the reality checks you should consider trying these ones

      -Plug nose and breath, if you can breathe, you're dreaming (said to be one of the most working RC's)
      -Look at your hands palm, while dreaming you'll have more fingers or less fingers than reality (pretty good RC too)
      -Try to push your thumb finger through your hand palm, if it passes through, then you're dreaming
      -Look at the clock, see what time is it, then look somewhere else, and look at the clock again, if the time changed, you're dreaming

      Thanks for answer What about triggers ? Should I use triggers for RCs is it necessary ? Yes I agree that you said . Looking an object is tyhe best RC . It has given me my first LD . But I couldn't stabilize it and take 10 seconds

      There's one thing you need to understand about ld is that it is your own thought, if you think about flying u fly,if u over think about flying like maybe i can maybe a cant, how long can i fly for, may be a bit maybe alot, then your over thinking it, like i said your dreams you own thought,the more you think the more you'll get in trouble, try next time u have one just do nothing, just listen to your thoughts and and get used to the fact that u are the creator of you own dream, ******PANIC IS FOR THE WEAK MINDED****MASTER YOUR THOUGHTS AND YOULL MASTER YOUR DREAMS****DONT BE AFRAID***

      I know none of us know you as this is like your fourth day. I have picked up on the idea that you have been doing lucid dreaming for 20+ years. I also saw you have had 100+ LDs in that time.
      You think none of our training is needed because of your success.

      Let's look at that success of yours like this. 100+ dreams/ 20 years = 5 dreams a year.

      Using methods learned here, from us, one student has improved so much that in just two years he is a good teacher in his own right. This student/teacher has probably had 5+ LDs in just the past two weeks.

      Short version: studying here, studying what you call rubbish this student/ teacher has learned to have as many or more LDs in two weeks, than you have averaged each year.

      Think about opening up to learning that which you do not know. The 'natural' skill you go on about needs some serious training if you ever want to be like this guy. Think about it.

      A very easy and efficient reality check.

      If you have one of those digital watches that beep every hour, every time it does take a look at your hands. Question the reality and make sure you have five fingers and that they look okay. Check twice on this. You will get used to do that and you will find yourself doing it in a dream but finding an abnormal hand and turning lucid.

      If you do not have said watch, then just try to find another trigger, such as a color as you said or something else, but pink is an uncommon color, try to do with green for an instance. You might see a lot of green, well, better, that way you RC more.

      I have good news for you My family started to support me . They evet let me use my phone to set an alarm Whenever my alarm beeps I do reality check . I look my hands and check if they are normal . I'm so happy But sometimes I can't use my phone for instance in the sea . What should I do in the sea should I choose a color like green ?       Yesterday I did 100+ reality checks It was too much and so exhausting I applied what I read here I did RCs whenever I saw green object but green is very very common color . What should I do ? Should I continue doing it ?

      My theory about LD is.
      the awareness always in 1st place.
      If you don't pay attention in details in real life
      why would you in dreams?

      anyway 100+ RC i found it a bit exaggerated.
      but just for a green object?
      The thing of RC's is doing at random times and quite often
      so in dreams you'll do the same
