      Internal Totem?

I've had 3 or 4 level 2 and 4 lucid dreams so far, but last night I had my first full length controllable level 4 or 5 dream!
I was comfortable with my environment and was able to get excited without waking up.
So hey guys I feel like I can finally contribute as a member here!

      Also, I have a question.
I never try to have lucid dreams, but I do reality checks every day and hope for DILDs.
(I've tried WILDing and the others and I can never get past that damn swallowing reflex)
So in this dream last night I can't remember what made me lucid. I think I just realized if that's even possible.
I was at a table with two friends, and one of them said to us, "Are you guys dreaming too? Because this is definitely a dream."
I was kind of shocked by that because I had heard about the Totem project and creating a reoccurring DC that could tell you you were dreaming and snap you into lucidity.

So my question is are my friends oneironauts or has my brain just conjured a sentence to wake itself up?

      Anyway thanks so much dudes!

I think it's more likely that your use of reality checks in real life kind of spilled into your dreaming life. If you get into the habit of doing RCs on a regular basis, then your brain starts doing them on a regular basis in your dreams.

I've heard that it's possible for people to have shared dreams, although it takes lots of practice and effort from what I've heard (we actually have a forum with some of those stories here). However, it's probably more likely that your dream friends were just projections from your subconscious, and they just happened to ask the right question at the right time. I've also had a dream where my roommate (who I know is not an oneironaut, as he's told me he remembers like 1 dream a month) asked me if I was dreaming, making me lucid. It sometimes just happens that way.
"Going through life worrying about the little things is like cooking with motor oil instead of cooking oil. Sure, you can still probably pull it off, but it'll leave a bad taste in your mouth in retrospect." - Me, apparently

Hmm that makes a lot of sense the way you put it.
Either way, it was an interesting twist.
I think that having friends with me in the dream who were also "dreaming" made it easier for me to accept the world.
      Thanks for the response mane

In my one lucid dream, I just realized that I was dreaming as well. I wasn't looking for dream signs or doing reality checks... I just realized that I was dreaming. At that point the dream carried on, but I kept thinking that it was unbelievable that I was actually aware of the fact that I was dreaming. It was kind of an unusual dual state of mind, for lack of better words. It is what brought me here to these forums.
