      Not being able to move?

Before I start I wanna say that I know this sounds kinda like a dream journal, and it sort of is but I have to explain the dream in order to ask my question.

So I 'woke up' in the dream on my couch at my beach house (I was actually taking a nap on the couch in the same place). I did a reality check and realized I was dreaming. After a second of congratulating myself I tried to get up. Something was definitely holding me back. I could not move. Eventually, with great force I was able to get up, but i was still a little shaky. I walked over to the area that blocks off falling down to the first floor and jumped down, intending to glide out of my house. While in mid air, I was back in the same spot I became lucid in, being pushed down again. Countless times I got up, moved a little bit away and then got transported back. After a while, I yelled out to the dream "Let me move!". This is when this dream kind of got out of hand. I heard a kinda creepy woman's voice come from downstairs say "is someone there?" then "Ethan?" (my name is Ethan). I didn't say anything and then I heard whispers. All of a sudden I heard someone running up the stairs and I got really scared so I woke myself up. When I woke up I had to do a reality check because I was in the same exact spot as where I had been transported many times in my dream.

Anyone got any ideas? I was really excited to be lucid because I don't succeed often , so this felt like a huge waste.

Ok well according to your LD count you have only had 8 Lucids which points me to the fact that you are not very experienced yet. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing it just means you haven't quite yet mastered dream control and being able to control the things around you. Sleep paralysis I don't think could be the culprit just lack of dream control that you have to build over time

If each time you couldn't move, you woke up from, wouldn't these be considered False Awakenings, and not Sleep Paralysis?

Not exactly, I think I have experience the same situation before like Erkums. If so, the scene of the dream is not changing dramatically nor is his mindset losing lucidity or altering to make him think he's out of the dream and in to waking life. I would rule out false awakenings because of this however I could be mistaken if it is him gaining lucidity again over and over with each time he is transported, then yes I would agree that it is a false awakening. It is rare to experience sleep paralysis and impossible to induce one in waking life. What you can induce is REM Atonia which is not as strong in paralysis meaning if you really wanted to move you can. However sleep paralysis is not impossible to experience in a dream. I suspect that's what Erkums was experiencing.

I don't think having a good level of control is necessary. All you need is the natural mindset in staying calm and reminding yourself nothing is really effecting you. If you begin to experience fear during these situations the dream will pick up on it because it is the source of your thoughts. I did the same thing when trying to move and when I finally did I tried to jump but was immediately teleported back in the same spot in which I couldn't move again. The solution that made me broke free is by staying calm and controlling your breathing, this is what caused me to move again. That is why staying calm is a great way to solve these because the more you're calm the more the dream will resonate with how you feel. The teleporting should also stop if you remain calm.

That seems like a great way to stop it, but i'm not exactly the best at controlling my fear. I knew it wasn't real but when I heard the voice from downstairs I couldn't help being freaked out, even though i was still fully lucid (hence I woke myself up with ease).
