      What is this? False awakening?

Hey, this has occurred 1 time before and tonight. I go up for WBTB, then attempting WILD for really really long, and then after that I stop and roll over, and roll over again. And when I fall asleep, I always end up in my room, it can be the bed, the sofa, just somewhere in my room, this time I ended up sitting in my sofa playing Xbox and talking Skype with a friend, and these 'dreams' are extremely vivid.

And I was so close to do a reality check but the dream was so real that I thought, no this can't be anything else (and thats when I should had done a RC)

So my question is: Is these dreams false awakening? And why do they occur when I do this?

Sounds like FA, If you wake up in your bed but aren't awake its a false awakening, even if wake up somewhere not your bed

I had an epic false awakening the other day. I wake up and only the computer monitors are on. I think its a power failure, and then I see both of my uninterruptible power supply are hooked up. I am looking at the LED display time readouts on the front of the UPS but the readout keeps changing (my UPS don't even have these readouts hehe) I think must be the storm (that had ended several days before) that took out the power, then suddenly the lights come back on and there is a power surge, and both UPS blow and computers go down. I think NO that can't happen thousands of dollars. So then the computers start to reboot but only one screen is coming up and it is displaying all sorts of gibberish and garbage. I cross the hall to the bathroom and my sister who has been gone for many many years is coming out of the next room, and her alarm is going off, I tell her not to trust her alarm because of the power outage, she says she is late and runs off. Then I'm in the bathroom and see more relatives, then I'm in a car, then off to a church I don't go to, then in a hardware store, then I wake up. Too bad I didn't notice all the obvious signs clearly I was early in the dream at the false awakening point he he

      Alright thanks for your answer!

Yeah for me, I was in the room outside of where my bed is. I went in to the room and was going to sleep, my bedside lamp was on the floor and I tried to turn it on but it didn't work. And then I looked at the rest of my room and it was all a mess, walls where missing so you could see cables, my bedside tables where flipped over and so on, and I remember hearing a little earthquake sound so I thought it had been an earthquake while I slept, and all seemed to be so extremely vivid. I think I was just going to an reality check but then I kinda tried to wake myself up because it seemed so real. I will try to get this false awakening tonight again.

I think I'm in the zone slept 3 hrs earlier then been up til 3:30, took my next round of Melatonin and DHEA then put in the ear plugs and tried to get to sleep
next thing I know I'm in like a gym or somewhere. I just happened to be looking at my hand, and then a finger went missing, and I was thinking this isn't good its a false reality check I'm not even asleep, I began to be concerned it wasn't a reliable test, then my fingers started jumping all over the place, confused I was thinking I'm not even asleep. It was confusing, but then I said I'm in a dream I was gonna do some cool stuff I'm sure but woke up. I had only been asleep for like 15 minutes or less

26.x I feel certain to increase the count tonight and this weekend, just gotta go back to sleep and convince myself yes idiot you are asleep that way detecting the dream will be easier

Yeah I want to increase my small number of 3, only 1 of these is new, the second is some months ago, and the first is alot of years ago.

5 of mine are historic I don't really remember how many I had many years ago, but it was at least 5, I only remember a few super clearly

the other 21.x of them are recent 1 just now, 1 last weekend, 2 the previous weekend and 3.x the prior weekend. I actually became lucid 5x in a row but only counted it as 3.x because I was in and out of lucidity in one clearly I was in the zone that morning tho. Current average is like 1.5+ per weekend

I credit the ridiculous amounts of Melatonin I take of course I might be lucid right now if I just got back to sleep, high dose of Melatonin causes insomnia he he (as always females shouldn't take high melatonin as it causes serious menstrual problems)

Hey Row! I usually consider having a vivid FA after a WILD attempt to be a pretty good sign. If anything, you were close, and managed to have a seamless transition. Keep up the WILD practice. What technique were you using, if you don't mind me asking?

And congrats, cooley, on the LD! Merry Christmas!

I wasn't getting lucid at all this night when I got the false awakening, nor the other time I got an FA. But here is exactly what I did to get the FA these 2 times.

Go to bed, sleep for 4 1/2 hours and get up for WBTB. I stayed up for 20 - 30 minutes. Then I laid still trying to WILD attempt for 30m - 1h 30m minutes. And after a long time of no result I rolled over. And I did roll over, over and over again some times until I got asleep. (I think I said some mantra some times before I managed to get asleep). And when I got asleep, I popped up sitting in my sofa playing as I mentioned in the thread.

I'm gonna try do the exact same thing tonight, I can report back if I got an new FA tomorrow

And I got my latest LD through DILD. I just somehow did say like ''I should say I'm dreaming now'' and then I became Lucid

I have also made an Dream Journal for the whole year of 2015 where I will write down all my dreams, regular and lucid. And I will update statistics on how many FAs, LDs, LD Time I had per month and total etc.

yea in the dream it was supposedly a catholic church, but instead of kneeling things they had like lazy boy recliners,
They were having a yard sale and I had to explain to a potential buyer that the return policy was only on sundays between 1 and 2 pm
They had lots of squeaky push cart things that Is why I went to Home Depot in the dream to fix some of them

this false awakening was like 15-25 minutes

If you often get False Awakenings, then it is a good idea to always question your surroundings when you wake up, no matter how vivid and realistic everything seems.
It is very easy to just go "bah, obviously I have woken up for real" when things feel "too realistic", but that's a trap that I have personally fallen for way too many times, so do a bunch of Reality Checks anyway.
