Reality Check failed in my Lucid dream??!?!?!?!

So last night I had another lucid dream. The first RC was a success, but as the dream proggresed I remembered about how u need to keep doing RC's to stay Lucid,So as I did another one (The rc where u plug your nose and breathe through) I couldn't breathe through and my ears popped and I was still in the dreamscape and still knew it was a dream. I then woke up

      Anybody know what this was?!?!

You should of redo the RC once again or once you become lucid and when you feel that dream is getting foggy, stand there and focus on your hands or whatever you prefer. You can spin around as well but it doesn't work for everybody. I only had 2 lucid dreams but i read from experienced people about this. Hope it helped, and GL.

Think of it like this. The whole concept of dream control is expectation: I expect I can fly, or be rich, or put my finger through my hand or breathe with my nose shut. Therefore, a RC can make is seem like you are awake, in your dream just like when you are awake if you have that kind of attitude. As a rule of thumb, when you do a RC awake, you should always expect, without a shadow of a doubt, expect to fail a RC as if you were actually in a dream, even if you are awake. That expectation will follow into your dreams, where it is more crucial to your own needs, to fail.

      Congrats, SAFLINT--now you're a real lucid dreamer!

Just kidding. This happens to all of us. The nose pinch in particular can fail as the brain is quite good at simulating waking life. You simply remember what it is like to nose pinch in WL, and so your dreaming brain reproduced this for you. Make sure to use a couple of RCs if you are not sure. Trying to read the same text twice or three times is a good one.

EDIT: You do not need to repeatedly RC to maintain lucidity. It can just be enough to remind yourself that you are dreaming. An RC can help cement it if you are having doubts. Didn't work this time for you, but it will probably work in the future. Good luck.

Like others have said, a reality check certainly can fail because our brains are so used to recreating out waking lives. You must reprogram your expectations so that reality checks are more likely to work in your dreams. I recently had a dream which a character changed instantly into a different person. This caused nearly instant lucidity because obviously that is not possible in the waking life. I reality checked and it took four tries with significant pressure to get my finger to pass through my hand! Luckily I was already convinced it was a dream or I would have dismissed the reality check on the first try.

you actually dont......this is where single-point meditation and mindfulness has come in to play to help.....once you realize you are dreaming and stabilize it, you can stay lucid throughout the length of the dream if your mind has enough practice "living in the moment".......
      on break...
