Are lucid dreams like RPG games?

what i mean by that is it similar to the structure of starting out in an RPG game like Skyrim or Final Fantasy where you have this level 1, basic character with no real abilities or equipment, but over time through hours of "playing" you acquire such abilities and equipment? for example i've only been taking lucid dreaming seriously for the past week and so far have only had 1 lucid dream which lasted about 5 or 10 minutes. in this dream i tried to shoot fireballs out of my hand and turn gravity off. i couldn't do either of them. in fact i wasn't able to do anything i wanted. i know that's not because i have no imagination, i have a pretty good one. it just wasn't possible. all i really could do was fly. So i'm wondering if that's just because i'm trying to do way too complicated and extravagant things right away and i have to work my way up to those the same way a level 1 RPG character couldn't summon lightning or something but could probably punch a rabbit...

also, to keep the RPG analogy alive, are you able to have a sort of dream inventory of things you've made in previous dreams? like could i spend a dream making some sort of anti-gravity bomb or something and then be able to quickly pull that out of my arsenal in a following dream so i don't have to spend the whole time making one?

hopefully this makes sense. sorry if this is a common or just plain dumb question, hah.

Personally I think it's nearly impossible to interlink a story between dreams over the course of multiple nights, I mean you can always initiate a scene by daydreaming it before going to bed and in that way link different scenes together. The most important thing would simply be memory, in that you remember the way the dreamworld was in your previous dream and act accordingly to that world. What you'll get if you do it really good and have Multi-lucid nights is you'll get a weird story that constantly changes, it might be connected to each other but I guess you can see it as dying at the end of one dream and rebirth in the next dream, in a world that may be similar to the previous one but not an exact copy.

You don't really have an improvement like in an RPG but sometimes you have to learn how to do it. Lucidity doesn't mean control. Look at the Dream Control forum for more information.

It's not really like a RPG, all it takes to do awesome stuff is confidence. If you believe something will happen in the dream, it will happen.
About the dream inventory thing. It's not really that useful because it only takes a couple of seconds to make something. You don't have to make the bomb yourself you can just imagine it being in your pocket for instance and it will be there ready for use.

Yes, in general, but it needs a little explanation.

Each person will be better at different things more often than others, and sometimes you will have your powers restricted in dreams for seemingly no reason.
When I first started LDing I couldn't fly even though most everyone I see can fly. It took me about 70 LDs to learn a consistent way to fly in dreams.
Things like fire are easy for me (and have been since I started), but sometimes still don't work.

EditAlso! Sometimes you could be worse or better randomly! You might have an awesome dream where all of the flight and fire and everything is super easy for some reason. It will continue to get better and better as you go, but more like a scatter graph than straight line.

I guess I could say that some things you start out with, but every time you start a lucid dream, there is a chance that dream control won't work (I have ways to get around this, but that is a different thread).

After you do something a bunch of times, it is pretty rare that it won't work for you. You can pull it out, do new things with it, and even use it to cover for other dream controls missing (flying missing? use fire!)

each dream control seems to take a certain amount of "mental energy" that is pretty low at the start. When I first started LDing, I had to use all my mind to just shoot fireballs, now I can teleport, throw a fireball, summon a sword, all while flying and paying attention to multiple opponents. This is the most "RPG like thing" the mental energy. This is why I create items, because they don't seem to take mental energy to use (a watch for control, a map for teleporting, a touch screen for my items, etc)

Everyone that I have met with over 300 LDs has at least semi persistent characters and places (some have control of it by then, others it takes longer). Your mind can revisit dreams, you are just limiting yourself by not believing! Check out Hyu's Journal or some other good LDer (I don't journal much, but I have spent at least 100 LDs in Zodra now).

That sounds very interresting, especially the fact you've given your dreamworld a name, or did the dreamworld create it's own name and you heared it?

Yeah, it gave itself the name. My dream dad (dc version of my dad) has always told me that he is an amazing LDer and taught me things. Zödra is the world that he showed me and has had me help him defend (like when they were going to kill all the not white people in Zödra). Quite a crazy place. He implanted me with the history and showed me what he had been doing. Apparently the world ages about triple our time. It was at 75 year anniversary when I first got there. They were celebrating my dad for being awesome.

I like it, but it is not exactly what I want, so I am gonna leave it and make a new place.

I write the name zodra or Zödra depending on if I am on the comp or phone. Actually annoying to go find a ö on the comp. Phone it is just holding the "o" button. Lol.
