Your view of the lucid dreaming world

I view dreams as just strange images and expieriences that I have at night and remember later on.

But lucid dreams I view as much more profound. I see them as me in a different world, where the possibilities are damn near limitless. I feel like I live in 2 different worlds, 1 is the lucid dreaming world and 1 the world outside my body. Maybe this sounds strange, it probably does xD But I really feel that way. Do you also have that feeling, that the lucid dream world is just another world that you inhabit? I don't mean really a different world, I know it's in my head. But for my expierience it's like, there is this outside world, and an inside world. Both quite different.

I think of it as a inner world too since its taking place inside my mind. While waking life is the outside world i experience through my external senses.

Technically, the 'outside' world also takes place inside of your mind.

In my opinion, the key difference between these two worlds lies in their stability (or consistency).

The dreamworld which is unstable and random, and the waking life being stable and somewhat predictable.
But other than that, there really isn't much difference to it if you are living in the moment

You can be amazed in the waking world when gazing at a beautiful sunset, but you can also be amazed in the dreamworld while watching the two planets collide in the sky.

Now, after the present moment is gone ---^ all that remains from both of those experiences, are memories.
And all memories are the same and will pile up in your "lifetime memories collection", whether you got them from an 'inside' or the 'outside' world

The real world has restrictions set by other people and nature.

In contrast, my dream world is only restricted by me! That's because my dream world is MINE! mine mine mine mine mine

I think like DrawnEye11, my dreams are my inner world and everything that are placed there is a part of me...
but waking life is an experience of my external and other people senses in a mix.

The two are beautiful, but only in one i can make a fly laser shooting dog with doubts about his sexual orientation on a mission to save his beloved rubber duck

I see my lucid world like the most detail realistic coping world of the real world.

Yeah, I do view the outside world because of my mind. I already knew that. Just didn't state it in my post. xD

Experience can just be playing a mind trick on us.

Because everything is experienced as signals received and projected, the idea that waking life is 'stable' is just another one of those signals being received and projected. The idea that dreaming is unstable is just another signal too.

Its all perceived signals. If we were to step outside of our bodies and our five senses, I imagine we would see a sea of static and vibrating energy or something, but definitely not what we experience with the 5 senses.

Anyhow, Ginsan you make cool threads bro. IMHO Lucidity is being able to manipulate the signals by will

This is my own thread so if that catapults the thread way off topic, I'm fine with it xD I hope the moderators are

When I started lucid dreaming, this feeling you're mentioning was even more profound. And, as I have more lucids and get better with each one, that feeling grows. Awareness in lucid dreams I think helps define that feeling of it being a completely different, separate, inner world. It's really something to appreciate. Non-lucid dreams can feel like this sometimes, but as per the popular description, they feel more like you're watching a movie more than anything, at least, once you wake up.
It's fun to think about it all like this though. Lucid dreaming is fascinating.

I don't think of the lucid dream world as inner or in my mind. Although it may be, it doesn't feel like it. Scenes, characters, and transitions are normally not my own making. It is a complete alternate reality to me with fluid rules that govern it, as opposed to the concrete rules of reality. I recall one dream where I was semi lucid and something I was about to do I knew would wake me up. I was really enjoying my lucid world and felt sad that I would eventually transition to that "other place" as if they were both valid realities in their own right. Both realities have their pros and cons.

Finally Rothgar, someone who feels the same way I also don't see it as in my head, but really a completely different world.

Hmm fascinating, I'm not opposed to the idea that it is another world, that makes our minds like teleportation devices though. A billion dollar machine we inherited for free

It feels like another world, obviously we know it's in our heads Maybe the thread should've been "Your feeling about the lucid dreaming world"

You are lucky to have this experience. I still view lucid dreaming as unobtainable to me. One day...yes one day I will get their to my very own lucid dreaming world. When I do get there I think I will create a world of slow motion. Everything is better in slow motion don't you think? I'm going to jump off the golden gate bridge in slow motion and when I hit the water I'll just keep falling...falling forever in slow motion!

Just have patience my friend One thing you always have to keep in mind is that progress is very non-linear, sometimes you'll practice and do everything right and nothing will happen, and then you will give up and suddenly 2 weeks later you get a few awesome lucid dreams, you start practicing again and everything will be great until it's not.. But the good news is that on average, on a larger timescale, you get better. These few months will always be better on average than the previous few months, if you keep practicing.

I never really liked the name: Lucid Dreaming. For most peoples dream is something hazy and foggy and not real. Lucid dreaming is more like a trip in some another universe. It is subjective reality, so there is a possibility of a metaphysical interpretation: My dream is more real for me, then the outside reality.

Gyalogos, it's appreciated to edit two successive posts into one. I remember being told to do that once, though I don't know if it's an actualy rule

      I agree with Gyalogos,

There is also 'The Problem of Other Minds' https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_other_minds

Quote: "The thought behind the question is that no matter how sophisticated someone's behavior is, behavior on its own is not sufficient to guarantee the presence of mentality."

No matter how truly we believe in an outside world, belief can be deceiving. As sophisticated a mind as I seem to you, I could still be a part of ur imagination.

Also Aristotle, Plato, and Descartes' Dream Argument https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_argument

^Truly deserves its own thread on a forum like this

Quote: "Whatever I have accepted until now as most true has come to me through my senses. But occasionally I have found that they have deceived me, and it is unwise to trust completely those who have deceived us even once."- Rene Descartes
