      Inducing Sleep Paralysis

I've been trying to LD for a while now through DILD or WILD. I've tried to get into Sleep Paralysis twice and each time I recieved the same results (which weren't bad for a start). I know since I am a beginner at lucid dreaming, you might say I shouldn't aim for SP right now and stick to DILD or something. But I also want to experience SP so I can also have a way to LD.
So these past 2-3 times I've tried SP, I do a WBTB first. Then I wake up and stay up for 20 minutes with lucid dreaming in my mind and repeat mantras. Then I lay back down and become relaxed and keeping my body perfectly still. After I do that, like about 15 minutes later I feel my body start to get heavy. My heart sometimes start to beat faster and my breath becomes heavier (I'm pretty sure that means that I am getting close to becoming paralyzed). But then I also have spit building up in my mouth and I end up swallowing it which requires moving my mouth. Then after that I feel like I messed up the whole process because I realize I'm not really feeling the same as I was (feeling glued to bed, breathing heavier). So the whole SP process ends up messing up and I don't end up getting in SP fully. So I am wondering if this has to do with me moving my mouth to swallow spit. Is it okay to move your mouth, or should I keep my mouth as still as my body? Because I think this mouth problem is causing the SP to end up being incomplete. Please help. Thanks.

While is fine to aim for WILD, don't aim for SP. It's a non essential part of the WILD experience and will only take away attention put on falling asleep and the dream you want to have.

Keep in mind, only your brain controls whether you fall asleep or not. So, moving won't keep you from falling asleep unless it causes your mind to move to much. This is another reason not to aim for SP, the thoughts running through your head can keep you awake.

Focus on keeping your mind still rather than your body. Keep your mind on only one thing until the dream comes. With your mind bouncing all over the place, it will be hard to fall asleep no matter how still you keep your body because only your brain controls whether you sleep or not, not any other body part.

I agree with dolphin 100%. Just don't put any attention on swallowing when you do it and you're good to go. As for me, sometimes I'll swallow when practicing WILD, other times I'll just "dive into the WILD" as Sageous puts it and keep my mouth half open so the air around me will keep it just dry enough to where I won't build up a noticeable amount of spit at all. If the air around you is too cold though your mouth will get super dry.

As dolphin said SP isn't the aim for a WILD. I think the entire WILDing community(at least on DV) agrees on that one.

SP is a misnomer. Yes, sleep paralysis does exist, but it doesn't mean what people mentioning it in relation with lucid dreaming think it means. That's because of a common misconception.
