Unhappy Disbelief in your own mantras

Hey all, i see that Mantras are still a thing of heavy use to some people, and i was wondering if people are actually owning some belief in what they're saying? i practiced mantras a while back, but whenever i did, i felt like what i was saying was completely false. Is there some way around this?

I think that what most people call "mantras" is actually "self-affirmations". A mantra is supposed to be a short personal statement, you shouldn't have multiples. Self affirmations are things that you believe with your mind, but you don't feel them, so you repeat them until you feel them to be true! They also help a lot with dreaming, since they can effect your night, by doing things like "I will remember more dreams tonight", "I will wake up at 3 AM", and "I will have a lucid dream." Your mantra should be more personal, and not change depending on your need for that night. If you watch Naruto, a mantra is similar to their nindo, or "ninja-way"... believe it... dattebayo.
