      Simple Lucid Dreaming Meditation

      Hi Everyone,

Thanks to everyone who has supported my attempt at creating a rational alternative for lucid dreaming videos on YouTube, I hugely appreciate it.

Anyhow, here's the latest video. This time, I thought I'd go for a more practical approach - using a meditation/visualisation.

This one is aimed at using strong emotions to trigger rational/lucid thinking. The logic is that as the prefrontal cortex is generally subdued during dreaming, but the amygdala is not, then by training one's mind to connect strong emotion with rational thinking, we'll be able to kickstart the logical functions during the world of dreams, where emotions run high. Consider it a way of training new neural pathways.

Of course, this is one that needs regular use - as you're essentially building a habit.

As always, anything you guys can do to help share and support the video is HUGELY appreciated.

I hope some of you find it useful and interesting:

Thanks Him, I really appreciate the positive feedback. It's incredibly time consuming putting these things together, so the support of lovely people like yourself really makes it all worth doing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm constantly working on trying to hone and improve the quality, it's quite a steep learning curve for a writer, so I'm glad it's paying off!

Haha, Sensei, if only you knew! My budget for YouTube is a resounding $0 (well actually there have been some lovely Patreon supporters, so it's more like $20). But, considering the amount of time and effort it takes to make these things, I think most people would actually think I'm a little bit nuts to do so - I'd definitely be infinitely better off flipping burgers! Still, I live and breathe lucid dreaming and absolutely love the subject, which personally I feel is the best reason to do anything in life

Don't be fooled by the illusion of the Kickstarter campaign for my next book - it's amazing how quickly a budget is swallowed in the costs to print, create artwork, proof, edit, post, run webservers etc. etc. etc. In fact, the campaign was left with a substantial shortfall that I am having to work hard to cover myself. So it really is a labour of love. It's hard work doing this stuff independantly, and I'm very glad of all the lovely support people give me, without it I'd simply not be able to survive. It would be the easiest thing in the world to accept a nice fat cheque from a new-age publisher to write the kind of wishy-washy nonsese that there is so much of. Personally, I care about the subject too much to do that, so I'm happy to live off a diet of beans if it means doing something worthwhile.

I know you didn't ask for a detailed response like this, but I also know how easy it is to project an incorrect idea of affluence on others who put their work out into the public sphere. It is worth remembering that sometimes, it is quite the opposite - and that some of us do things on a shoe-string and out of love.

Well, I hope it all works out good, I am a fan of LDing spreading far and wide usually, I am just at a time right now that I dont really care much about the spreading of LDing except through my life, i am sure it is just a phase, lol.

I feel you romantacize the artist ways, and I have mentioned before a publicist, but with your reply being that they would make you change your vision, I can see a little why artists often starve and go underappreciated in their own time. The inability to compromise their work and hard heads. This sounds like a dis, and it is a little at artists in general, but if every artist compromised we would have crappy art. Rethinking this, if no artist compromised, we wouldn't have the cistine chapel. It is definitely up to the artist in question.

Also, a random question about your work here. I know you have you subforum with lots of things brought to you, but have you thought to look around the forum and talk to some of the amazing dreamers here? O, Sageous, sivason, percylucid, naiya, to name a few. These are people with almost my lifetimes worth of experience in the matter. Talking to peeople that LD more than the average LDer might make it easier to see trends in lucidity rather than just your experience and whoever stumbles across this subforum. When I first started lucid dreaming I ran into majy people that gave me all sorts of logical advice that hurt my LDing. I sought out the masters online here and followed their paths while I found my own.

I'd not say I romanticize being artistic, but I can see why you'd reach that conclusion. In the case of lucid dreaming I'm just adamant that I'll not be part of the misinformation problem. In my childhood, the early days of studying the subject, I was regularly led on a wild goose chase by the huge quantities of misinformation published on the subject. Retrospectively, it was a huge waste of time and energy. The only people I have to blame for this are the authors who decided to muddy the waters of the subject. So, I really want to offer an antidote to that side of lucid dreaming, so others can avoid getting sidetracked.

However at the moment, the kinds of publishers who will touch lucid dreaming as a subject are generally very biased towards it fitting it into some kind of far-out, but lucrative, narrative (just look at the size of the self-help section of bookstores compared to the science or psychology section!). I just find that approach far too misleading and intellectually dishonest. Still, I'm always more than happy to work with publishers and outlets that have respect for science and knowledge. Fortunately I think the world is becoming more rational and educated, and the public are starting to want this kind of material more. I certainly hope so, as I'd be happy to avoid starving if possible! I've no particular wish to struggle and would quite happily write about lucid dreaming from the luxury of a private jet while sipping fine wines from the bellybuttons of supermodels, just not if it's at the expense of honesty

To answer your last question. Yes definitely, I've been a memeber of this forum for a VERY long time, far longer than this account has been active - in fact, I think from the very earliest days. As after the lucidity institute forums closed, DV was the natural new home for its refugees (along with MortalMyst, which I think was also around at the time). DreamViews is full of fantastic experienced dreamers and the whole point of working with the forum is for exactly the reasons you mentioned. I'm only one man, with one perspective, and I've long outgrown any lucid-dreaming-messiah complex. I really want my work to just be a platform the the collective good ideas of everyone who is passionate about the subject. I've made plenty of good friends here over the years, and as I'm sure you're aware, with a subject like this we all learn from each other. I'm constantly reading and taking on-board what others are saying, especially the old-guard. I'd like to contribute to conversations more, but time constraints make that difficult. So to answer your question, yes, I'm constantly inspired by everyone here, both current members and those from the old-days. The subforum is really just a means to give people a chance to share things in a way that I'll read first - as it helps reduce my time browsing and researching.

I will be definitely checking out these videos, DanielLove. Especially looking forward to the meditation one, as this is becoming a hot topic among our members. How to connect meditation with lucid dreaming. Thank you!

Going to try this out for sure! Thank you very much for posting it! I haven't gotten into meditation yet but have wanted to explore it for a long time.
