So just a few quick questions. As long as I can remember I have had auditory hallucinations when going to sleep, most often when I have gotten up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and gone back to bed. They have never been disturbing, I can't ever make out what I am hearing, kind of like background conversations like if you were at a party or something. I have always enjoyed it because I have used it as an indicator that I am going back to sleep. I just thought that this is a totally normal experience and that everybody experienced this too until reading more about it and finding out that it has an actual name, Hypnogogic Hallucination. Here is my question, in some of the articles I have read it talks about visual hallucinations as well like seeing geometric shapes and lights. Are people seeing this with their eyes close or do they open their eyes and see these shapes? Just to be clear, I am talking about when going to sleep, not when waking up.
