You can take on a more passive approach to lucid dreaming. If taking the time to journal is affecting your recall I would suggest settling for a brief summary of the dreams you recall. It can be very short and sketchy. Try not to move around a lot immediately after waking and try recalling as much as you can. You can quickly voice record or type up dream notes in less than 5 mins. Later in the day if you feel like expanding on it and have time then go for it as trying to recall again will improve your overall dream recall, at least from my experience. As for actually having lucid dreams try to expect to have them during any nap times or rely on DEILD for your lucids. It'll also help to think of the main reason you want lucid dream to keep you motivated. For example, with me it's to hang out with my significant other who had passed away. Of course, you don't need such a reason. Just wanting to have fun can also be a reason.
