      Cycling into the dream

When I first started out improving my dream recall I put together a list of my recurring dream signs and themes in my journal. Whilst most recurring themes made sense to me I was a little surprised to find quite often I was dreaming about being on a bicycle? I found this odd as I don’t cycle in my waking life, nor was I a regular cyclist in my childhood? I also noticed that whenever I had these cycling dreams I never saw myself get on the bike. I was always riding, usually at speed down a road or path. I didn’t think much of it at first but then a strange thing occurred. I had my first WILD and during the transition I was sucked into the darkness and felt a feeling of acceleration as I entered the dream. As it formed around me I was surprised to come speeding into a village setting riding a bicycle! I believed it must be the dreams way of interpreting the acceleration feeling I was experiencing and provided a logical reason for it. Though I’ve had more WILDs since this experience and felt that same acceleration feeling, I’ve yet to enter on a bicycle again. However, I continue to have dreams that begin with me riding on a bicycle. I’ve also had similar experiences on a dog sled and a fast electric wheel chair as well. More recently I had a bicycle dream which began as usual with me cycling at speed down a road. I noted the pedals felt light and strange and it triggered me to become quickly lucid. I’m now fairly certain these dreams are caused by dream entries only I’m usually unconscious during the transition.

      Has anyone else experienced this?

I had a short WILD (not in my DJ here because it wasn't worth sharing) in which I felt movement - forward, fairly smooth, in one axis, although not necessarily accelerating. I started to imagine I am standing on a skateboard, riding slightly downhill. But a bike would fit too, I think. Slowly, a path under me started appearing and then a simple landscape around (trees, shrubs). It somewhat stabilized and I could walk and there was a group of DCs, one of them was called Womanizer. He wanted something with me (sexual? it wasn't clear) but I was not interested and then the dream collapsed.

Unfortunately, I don't have movement hallucinations often (other than vibrations or shaking). My transitions are mostly visual and not much "transitional".
But I think your theory could be correct.

Interesting. Sounds like a similar experience. I didn’t visualise or expect it upon entering though. It appears to be just a default setting of mine. The acceleration feeling for me is like my consciousness is being pulled into some kind of portal or black hole and increases in speed and intensity until the dream forms. I compare it to the Millennium Falcon going into hyper space. I don’t usually feel my body again until I’ve fully entered the dream. It doesn’t happen every time but is quite a common occurrence.
