my question is bolded for convienence, incase I just get confusing..
sorry.

I've read a bit about techniques to stay in your lucid dream [just a bit, though, I don't know much about that yet]

I'm not exactly sure what I'm trying to ask..

By staying in an LD longer, you're usually just trying not to lose lucidity, right?

Or are you actually attempting to keep yourself in the REM stage longer than you would,

if in a normal dream?

If this is true...

Is there any way to extend REM? Do you think it's possibly that, with enough control, you could control your sleep stages?

Because I know that the actual dream stage is so short, especially early in the night..

I'm sorry if that didn't make sense
