Thread: Is there anything you CAN'T do in a dream?

Is there anything that is IMPOSSIBLE to do in a dream (normal or lucid)?

I don't think so because your imagination is unlimited and you can basically
imagine what ever you like. imagine you are day dreaming then you found yourself making anything you like appears - that's what dreaming is.
But there is some stuff you can't do in a dream, make something you thought is impossible because you will probably never believe in the thing you thought impossible existed that make it not happen in your dream.

Hmm, good question.

I think that everything really is possible. You're mind can do anything you beleive to be possible, in a dream. So if you are 100% lucid, there's no reason why you wouldn't be able to do anything you've ever wanted, you know it's all in your own head.

Some people say if you don't beleive certain things are possible they can't happen in the dream, but I don't understand that...for if you know you are dreaming ANYTHING can be done, even if your mind does a poor job at simulating it.

I don't believe the imagination is infinite, so there is something that you can't do; I just can't tell you what it is, since it is beyond my imagination.

What about actions that require a part of your brain that is not active while you sleep? Sort of like how its very hard to read and almost impossible to write? I've heard a lot of myths about things like this. Anyone know any real science on it? I know true logic is also very difficult.

Yes, given the unstable nature of text in lucid dreams, I imagine reading is quite difficult.

We're not only talking about lucids here, right? Because when you're sleepwalking, you can (I guess?).

Lucids, of course. If we're talking about sleepwalking, then it wouldn't make much sense to discuss 260 vision and flying around blowing people up...

There's probably a sensual limitation on that. The eyes can only get certain frequencies, and the brain can only interpret those frequencies.
Obviously you can't exceed the limitations of your brain. You can't be super-smart in a dream.

You can't control two spaceships, make a plate of pancakes, adminestrate the internet, be a supporter on Quakenet, make an opticore proccessor and eat a feast for 10 people at 2 minutes.

I've always wanted to make a dream last forever. Some people can freeze time in a dream or go back in time. Can you control time so much that you have a lucid dream that lasts a lifetime??

I thought you couldn't change light levels suddenly, or have people managed to do this?

I think that is impossible, because there really can only be so many colors. The better task would be to find a new sense. Could a person that has always been blind have visuals in a dream? I don't know how you would go about learning a new sense in a dream, but the question is: can your imagination handle it?
