Ever feel guilty about doing something in a lucid?

For example doing your friends girlfriend, stealing, killing a dream character etc...

I have never had one where I was in controll. So I supose it wasn't lucid. But I do not think it's such a bad thing to have those actions within a dream context. As long as the intent isn't reflected in real life. Thus the beauty of a dream.

I never have, probably because I've only had a few LDs. But I agree with kogatojr, its a dream and its in your own mind. Anyway, better there than in the real world, right?

True. I feel bad even harming dream characters which is stupid but from now on no more guilt in my lucids.

In my opinion, guilt is one of the aspects that prove you are lucid. Guilt shows that you are thinking clearly. Guilt proves that you know how your actions would fare in real life, and you know how you should feel if you performed said action. Lucidity also means that you know you can do it anyway because you know it has no effect on real life.

      If you are lucid, then:
      1. Guilt is present when you are intruding on your morals.
      2. You understand and can control that guilt.

In my lucids, I keep to the same morals as I do in real life. I choose to. If I am conscious in any way, then it's my responsibility to stick to my morals. That's the way I roll.

The whole point of Lucidity is not to be or feel guilty of any action you commit while lucid or otherwise you'll be sucked into the whole situation causing you to loose lucidity. Lucidity = power = freedom = lucidity. Don't you ever forget that

I have quite a strict sense of what "cheating" is. If you are having lucid sex with some other girl while you have a girlfriend (or wife) IRL then I do think that is wrong. However, if you are single then its ok imo Also killing DCs and stealing is fine in a lucid too - who really has never daydreamed about killing someone they hated or robbing a bank?

I've never LD'd but i've killed in dreams and i never felt bad when i woke up because of it. I have felt bad when i was having the best dreams ever and woke up. Was feeling so good around the woman or dream area i was at or whatever i was doing then i wake up to this sh1thole we live in. Then again i've also glad i woke up from some dreams and realised it was just a dream and carried on with my day.

Ha ha, I like that its okay in your book to murder a dream character but not sleep with them if you are attached in real life.

They are both morally wrong in real life, so why wouldn't they both be wrong in dream life?

I bring that up because I have killed a DC before and I felt EXTREMELY guilty about it. Even while fully lucid, when I kill a DC even though I know no real harm has been done, I always feel guilty and sometimes think "Well that was pointless".

So, for me killing a DC in a lucid makes me feel guilty. Sex, on the other hand, does not because I know its just a biological urge being played out in the mind while asleep.

The way I see it is- if you ever think about doing something morally wrong, then you can do it in a dream.
Like Amelaclya said about daydreaming about killing someone or robbing a bank. I don't think anyone here could say that they have never fantasized about doing something evil or wrong in their life, it doesn't mean you're going to act on it. That's why it's so great, it's your mind and you can think what you like and lucid dreams just take it a little bit further by actually letting you act it out if you wish, but without their being physical consequences. It's a bit like a movie, you go to see horror movies of people being killed, it doesn't mean you'd like to see it in real life.
I don't see anything wrong with it, although I'm not going to go out of my way to inflict pain on a DC unless they really p me off.

Well I'm not going to blame my bf for having an accidental non-lucid sex dream or anything, but I would be quite upset if I found out he was purposely dreaming about having sex with another woman. As I'm sure he would be if I were doing another man. Especially since LDs can be as vivid as real life.

However killing someone or stealing - you aren't actually hurting anyone IRL like the possible emotional trauma you could cause to your partner by having a "Lucid Affair". Especially if you tend to be a sleep-talker (like I am ;P).

By dream character - I also assumed he meant someone random? Maybe I misunderstood. In any case, since I wouldn't cheat on my bf in a dream, I certainly wouldn't try to kill him ;P For that matter, I wouldn't really want to waste a perfectly good LD killing anyone. Except of course if I were playing out a scene from a book or game (which I'm tempted to do). Not much harm in fantasizing about killing imaginary characters

Okay, I see what you are saying. It's basically like thinking about cheating in real life, since you are presumably lucid in the dream.

As for the killing, I play enough First Person Shooters that I have a lot of non-lucid dreams where I am fighting hordes of Nazi-alien-zombies while carrying an MP5 and an iron sword...ha ha...it's just the lucid dreams in which I have to kill a DC who is trying to harm me that I feel weird about.

Although, if they are criminals of some kind then I usually don't feel that bad about it.

Hell no!! LD's are my time where I can do whatever I please and it's not considered bad because nothing bad came of it!

Yeh i suppose at the end of the day everything that goes on is all in your sub-conscious mind and doesn't affect anyone else but yourself.

Here's a different one. How would you feel if you found out that somebody was having a relationship/affair with your partner in their lucid dreams???

I wouldn't worry about it. Do you feel bad about thinking a thought like that? All a lucid dream is is a really realistic thought.

Doing friends girlfriend? No, I think that's more of a forbidden fantasy.

Stealing? In a lucid dream, you're aware it's not real so why feel guilty? I have never stolen anything major irl or while lucid.

Killing a dream character? I don't recall a last time that happened, but I'm sure if there's reason to...

It's not like you need to steal things in a LD anyway, you can just make it yourself!

No, never. It's a dream and that's that...do what you like in it, just be careful not to let your dream practices carry over into reality, otherwise our society would a whole lot of major problems.
